@Nathan Schueller Which is a useless computer replacement just a big iphone and always will be. Apple hangcuffs are real

@Djsj9510 I got the pixel 6a so Android 4 lyfe. I was not trying to imply that I own an iPad Pro and am vulnerable to criticism but if Apple was giving a touch screen alternative to this OS, it would definitely be with their M1 iPad’s. Apple needs more customizability in their software for me to officially jump on the bandwagon

    • Djsj9510

      July 30, 2022 at 5:06 pm

@Nathan Schueller Definitely agree I have an iPad pro and it’s ridiculous how much it cost and for what. Half the apps I use don’t rotate or even fit the full screen. I also have a tab S7 plus which is hands down superior. I also use windows and older mac’s so I’m all over. The is with apple is they want to sell you a device for everything. Honestly they brag about the iPad pro and how powerful it is but it’s software is so far behind so what’s the point.

    • Nathan Schueller

      July 30, 2022 at 5:18 pm

@Djsj9510 They rely on Android to come out with updates for them to come out with updates. Wouldn’t surprise me if it said you used to work at Google on your resume that Apple would hire you immediately and leech off of your skills.

      July 30, 2022 at 5:24 pm

@Djsj9510 Also don’t worry, people aren’t mainly getting Apple products for the software, they’re getting it for the status symbol

Those of us running macs in clamshell mode on our desktop are probably going to use continuity camera a lot. I know I will be.

im an android person, but the continuity camera CHANGES things; so much applications now with that one feature (like wireless robotic feed). Im curious about what API’s apple is gonna introduce to us developers, thats the sweet stuff consumers ought to appreciate. Most people only use like 1% of what their computer is actually capable of.

Real time transcripts – yeah just use Google meet and they got you covered 😉
And the settings change looks exactly as the one Fedora (Linux) has had for quite some time now.

Stage Manager is like the Aero Peek of Windows we desperately needed, but it’s a separate giant space waste to the left! Why not just build Stage Manager into the dock like what a common sense developer would do?!

    Come on Apple!

    • jpdemer5

      July 31, 2022 at 1:25 pm

I hope we have the ability to re-size those gigantic icons!

    • Botch

      July 31, 2022 at 8:57 pm

Yeah, getting rid of the “Recently Opened” section of the dock and placing the Stage Manager icons there, would make a lot more sense. I think SM will be much more useful on the iPad.

Swift left and right is way better and easier than Stage Manager

  21. Tos Komsan HD

I don’t really find Stage Manager useful.

  22. Alexandre L

    July 31, 2022 at 4:06 am

Stage Manager seems redundant. One tweak or two on dock would be enough, no need for a *fourth* method to access a window.

can i download this to my windows laptop?

Using the iPhone as a webcam will be a terrific win for those of us with Mac Minis! (I’ve figured out how to do it with the current iOS and MacOS, and no added software, but it’s a bit of a pain.)
Note that continuous operation of the iPhone cameras takes a lot of juice, which means that (A) you’ll want to keep it plugged into a charger, and (B) older iPhones may overheat badly when used as webcams.

Those running Mac mini and Mac Studio will appreciate continuity camera.

Will we ever get a good image viewer for intance ‘irfan view’ ? It’s alright adding all these new features when back to basics computing is still easier on Windows !

Using the superior cameras on iPhone attached to the laptop is a clever idea but ideally, we should be able to use a good camera included in the MacBook itself. Seems a strange workaround solution to the problem of not good enough cameras on MacBooks!

I personal think the Stage Manager is useless and just taking up space. Definitely will be the first thing I make sure to keep it turn off after installed Ventura.

I’m so happy you showed that the phone kept working as a webcam after you removed it from the laptop. I’ve been wondering this ever since I saw the demo in the keynote. Now I just wonder how far from the laptop you can take the phone before or stops working🤔
