@Demus not if you go backpacking for a week, normal food cannot last that long and it isnt practical to carry around methods of refrigeration. not to mention these meals are so much lighter

These are meals for backpackers not everyday use. Their purpose is to be somewhat palatable, nutritionally dense, easy and light to carry and require minimal preparation.

I have a food allergy, easy to pack, carry, edible, will not put me in hospital, do not have to deal with ignorant waitstaff, can take on a plane…with overnight layovers and cancellations this may be a good back up food for travelling.
