Big thing: this Micro-evolution not Macro-evolution. These instances don’t prove things like Dinosaurs to birds. They do however prove that animals can change small aspects or their biology for the betterment of their species.

This wasnt supposed to prove macro evolution. Thats not the goal of this video. We already have plenty of evidence for that anyways

Evolution does not happen in 100 years.

    • Absolute Schmuck

      November 30, 2021 at 6:56 pm

In certain situations, it happens somewhat quickly. For example, an area that is affected by a lava flow, the animals that once were able to blend in will have to adapt to their new environment by changing color. Of course this is a relatively small adaptation that isn’t really considered evolution, but changes can happen in a short amount of time.

yes, unfortunate that the human animal can’t adapt at high speed, which means mst of them in adverse environments will seek out less adverse environments. Don’t say I didn’t tell you. Get ready to pay those increased taxes…..or do someting about climate change…..

While evolution seems pretty cool, it requires a lot of animals fail, suffer, and die. We only see new and unique species because loads of other got killed off.

  47. Dan Goodin

    December 1, 2021 at 12:34 am

Funny…just a question – if “evolution” takes hundreds/thousands of yeas, multiple life cycles per the claims of modern science, why all of a sudden now you claim we are seeing active evolution in the time frame of “climate change” which is only “documented” for 100ish years?

I always for get…in the 1970’s it was the “snowball” earth…then in the 1990’s it was “global warming” and now it’s “climate change” – which is it?

    • Hm Grraarrpffrzz

      December 1, 2021 at 5:35 pm

Everything evolves with every generation. The speed with which something evolves depends on many factors, among others the speed at which the environment changes.

      _”which is it?”_
It is most likely that what the current status of scientific research is.

    • Dan Goodin

      December 1, 2021 at 7:08 pm

@Hm Grraarrpffrzz the current state of scientific research???

According to “you” people the science is settled I thought???

    • Hm Grraarrpffrzz

      December 1, 2021 at 7:47 pm

@Dan Goodin You thought wrong. Science is never settled. It always gives us the best explanation based on our current state of knowledge. But tomorrow we might learn something new and realise that we were wrong. That’s why many scientific theories and hypotheses have been abandoned or changed. And that’s also why science works and religion doesn’t, when it’s about finding the truth.

    • Dan Goodin

      December 1, 2021 at 9:23 pm

Or ma’am or “how you feel that day”…I would hate to offend you or anyone else

If it wasn’t settled as you claim, you wouldn’t get so offended when some people have the gull to challenge your world view

    • Hm Grraarrpffrzz

      December 1, 2021 at 9:31 pm

@Dan Goodin I’m not offended. I just feel pity for those who deny evolution because the bridle they put on in the name of religion forces them into ignorance. Also, evolution is not a worldview, it’s a scientific theory. A worldview encompasses more than a description of how organisms change.
You make a lot of assumptions about me in order to attempt to compensate for your lack of arguments.

7:55 “Plants and animals all over the world adapting their behavior, sometimes changing their bodies, *sometimes even evolving* in response to climate change” (emphasis mine)
That’s a funny way to phrase it. As if killing every human with blue eyes would lead to the conclusion that humanity ‘evolved’ to a different eye color. No you ****, you just killed all the ones that had blue eyes! Do this a few times more with green, brown and grey eyes and you will see that humanity did in fact no evolve, but instead was eradicated.
These species are not evolving, they are dying. It’s just that the less fit individuals are dying a bit faster than the other ones.

This should have diminishing returns in the shir term, right…? They’re only able to make these adaptations because they already had some diversity in their populations, and that diversity decreases when parts of their populations die off. They would need more time to diversify again, and they may not be given that time if they are hit by too many events too quickly.

One thing about the lizard experiment is that it wasn’t accurate, lizards aren’t holding onto smooth dowels in the wild, they hold onto living trees that have rough bark that gives them much better footholds, the scientist should have used a piece of tree branch similar size to the dowel instead.

That leaf blower experiment was pretty bad and UNscientific, considering he used a pole that was too slick compared to the branches the lizards would hold onto in nature….
On the other hand, a leaf blower is also a lot weaker than a hurricane, but I highly doubt he actually first calculated what the pole’s surface would have to be like compared to the difference between an average hurricane and the leaf blower. Also, the pole was obviously not “elastic” enough to simulate tree branches in a hurricane. All in all, a very bad and unscientific experiement.

Why do usually “scientists” who ignore the scientific principle to a good extent end up in the media?

Whether we have an effect on climate change or not, it will happen either way. It is fact that we accelerate the process by which the planet is becoming hotter but it is a stupid idea to think we should in any way meddle with nature to save species that may go extinct. Species that are not fit to survive a hard environment going extinct is a part of nature, we ourselves eventually will go extinct probably very quickly as a result of our effects on the planet. But the planet itself is okay, the climates are changing and new threats are coming about just like they have been for millions and millions of years. People who think that we will somehow bring about the end of life on the planet are incredibly self important and ignorant.

Even if somehow we brought about the extinction of most of the planet’s species, there will still be some that will survive and that portion will be what starts the next cycle of repopulation and diversity. Stop meddling with nature by trying to save endangered species, let them go like nature intended. I love animals as much as the next guy but helping other species which will go extinct anyway when we are literally close to going extinct ourselves is unbelievably stupid. I loved this video though as it hopefully highlighted how life adapts to the changes around it. Some species will go, some will stay. Deal with it.

Hold up, were there lizards with both longer hind legs AND longer front legs before the hurricanes, or were they all with only longer hind legs? If it was both, then the ones with long hind legs all got wiped out, but that also means the survivors will not be as quick to escape predators without their more powerful hind legs.
And could the squid sizes be due to loss of certain prey/food sources? We know many sea life have been decimated, and that might affect their size as well. Just like countries with more access to meat and dairy have bigger people.

Global warming would cause chaotic destabilization of the extreme abiotic factors on our biodiversity, which can lead to extinction of a variety of species. There would be alot of invasive species, and of course evolutionary adaptation for the species but for humans?I understand why you supposed “we can evolve and fly” in a satiric way,but can we actually? Why would we “fly” ,when we have a plethora of artificial inventions that continue to advance and innovate in our sorrounding? With that being said, no, of course we shouldn’t “support” it since it will cause a downfall to our environment.

So getting blown once or twice a year caused the lizard to grow shorter legs? Really? Try doing pull ups until you’re really stressed, and fall down once or twice a year, and check your leg length. One ” scientist ” got a grant back in the 1980s to study the love emotions of male bull frogs. This stuff is just a money gin for the otherwise unemployable. BTW, I believe in climate change- I call it weather.

One of my favorite changes is with the polar bear. They have adapted in Canada to hunt beluga whales by going out on rocks in low tide and waiting for the water to rise, which brings in the whales during high tide, and the polar bears jump off of those rocks they waited on and get the whales. I was super anxious about the bears but I’m glad they have adapted.

    And climate change?

You’re still saying “Us being advanced did this? Not oil spills not rich peoples pollution, Nope it’s sally and Sam running their toaster. That’s why Gaea’s sick”

This just in. We’re fine. These guys want more money and apparently “these things that have happened for Billions of years that Were Never A Problem Then are now, and never happened before and we’re all doomed”
Bro it took how much money, electricity, gas and other resources to make this video, upload it, and this is about Making A Change Not Awareness?!

Pro tip: If a scientist says we have to do something(Globally) so that they individually don’t have to, They’re Not Scientists.

I’ve never understood why biologists are confused about the rate of which evolution occurs. DNA methylation/acetylation that regulate gene expression throughout a persons life is definitely inheritable and conserved in their offspring. It would make sense that epigenetics is a much stronger force in driving natural selection than we currently understand.

I love the concept of this video. But highly suspicious of the conclusion that animals are rapidly evolving. The Turks and Caicos Islands get destructive hurricanes every few years. If hurricanes caused such a dramatic change in one generation, the ones with longer legs would’ve died out before 2017. The claims seem disingenuous for the sake of drama, which is anti-scientific.

As seen in bees or not? The big killer bees. Are a direct result of habitat loss and a early glyphosat response probably.

What he witnessed is “adaptation” not “evolution”. Plus it could change back just as quickly. “If” the next event “would” cause lizards with smaller feet to survive then it would be going backwards. In other words, it’s NOT constantly moving “forward” and it’s NOT evolving. It is just continually adapting to the current environment. NOT changing into a different species.
