Just imagine the M2’s performance based on arm v9

that USB C argument has holes in it. I cannot see how having MagSafe back on these laptops is a disadvantage in any way. The fact that you can still charge via USB C is good for anyone who still would like to use their current chargers

It just means that you won’t be able to share your shiny new Magsafe cable with anyone, except another MacBook Pro M1 user. It is not a BAD thing, but it is still a step back from having a universal charging method.

USB-C is too slow to charge a large battery. Another European mess.

    • Jérôme NANCY

      October 19, 2021 at 10:18 pm

@Tony Burzio As far as I know, the MB charger is USB C at the extremity, so it seems plenty fast.

The round btm corner is fugly n inconsistent with the rest of the lineup

Answer is Yes. These are beyond our expectations

you can still charge these laptops using USB-C. What a weird logic for criticizing magsafe haha

    • Jérôme NANCY

      October 19, 2021 at 11:20 am

You can’t share your Magsafe cable with anyone else, I don’t understand what is weird in his logic.

    • Tony Burzio

      October 19, 2021 at 9:43 pm

You can share your MagSafe brick, which is USB-C.

  8. Guenter Huber

    October 19, 2021 at 11:09 am

Why the heck do you rant about MagSafe being proprietary when you now got the best of both worlds with alt USB-C-charging?
Would love to know what you said about the MacBook one-port-idiocy.

Yes, they are… But at an unaffordable price…

    • Tony Burzio

      October 19, 2021 at 9:37 pm

Matches PC laptop prices with the same capabilities, but they don’t slow down on battery.

    • Igor Marcos

      October 19, 2021 at 10:00 pm

@Tony Burzio the high end m1 max does match yes

But the lower end do not, it is similar to an 11800h with a 3050ti but double the price

Ordered the 14inch 24 Core GPU model with 32gb ram. Hopefully be set for 3-5 years and NO more toaster oven with a jet engine on my desk.

      October 19, 2021 at 2:11 pm

That should be more than enough for 5 years… barring any sort of (insert infamous apple-gate) issues

    • Mikey G

      October 19, 2021 at 3:04 pm

@THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE right! I did get AppleCare this time to be on the safe side.

Finally Apple presents a true PRO machine! Including the PRO price lol

    Notch?!

    • Tony Burzio

      October 19, 2021 at 9:41 pm

Not really, the display to either side is really an addressable display bezel for the menu bar, not part of the display.

  14. THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE

    October 19, 2021 at 2:04 pm

The USB C charging argument has no merit at all as you can still charge with USB C. Now you have magsafe (the superior charging method for LAPTOPS) that charges faster. And you can free up that USB C port for something actually worth using the port for

Are you kidding with this title. This are monsters.

  16. Aaron Lane

That notch didn’t need to be there.

Appreciate your opinion but you need to slow your roll and either dim or turn off the background music. It’s all a little amped up and becomes quickly annoying. Why is every one yelling, speaking at hyper speed and playing music when trying to impart info?

If this thing had Face I.D. I would’ve absolutely gotten one 😢 oh well maybe next year

    • Tony Burzio

      October 19, 2021 at 9:31 pm

I wish my iPhone had a touch sensor, Face ID doesn’t work with a mask.

The question this video asked: Are these new laptops “pro enough”? Peel away all the hyper-ventilating in this video, and just a few words matter: We’ll have to do actual tests of the hardware to see. So, basically this video is a promotional video to let viewers know that C/Net is coming out with another video to review the actual machines when they get their hands on them.

I definitely miss the ” thinness illusion ” design for the sides of the chassis. This rounded pan design is dated and reminds me of the many nightmares I went through with the 2006 17″ MBP.

The previous gens look like they hovered above my desk because of the design language of appearing to be things around the sides, by creating a noticeable shadow around the device, super cool.

As for the notch, I hope I will be able to expand all of my content around the notch. I don’t mind the notch being there but I want that whole upper area to be filled with my content. Otherwise it’s not a good use of the actual screen real estate and that makes me furious.

I will get the top of the line when it appears in the refurbished store on Apple’s site because I will never justify buying anything new from Apple just to have the latest gadgets. No. That’s unsustainable and is fast track to debt. Yuck.

If you are a pro, then the answer is, “get back to work and stop complaining”.

Him: “The 14 inch MacBook Pro weighs a full half pound more than the 13 inch. It’s not a lot, but it’s not peanuts either.”

Correction, it is peanuts. 89 peanuts approximately.
