Google’s Find My Device uses an encrypted, crowdsourced network of other Android devices to help you find lost items like Bluetooth trackers, phones and headphones. But the network rollout has been slow and confusing, especially because the default settings make it harder to find your lost items. Change these settings so it works more like Apple’s Find My network.

I think Google is becoming more and more comfortable with the growing normalcy that:

*Apple products are ALWAYS of higher quality compared to Google products*

    Sad they folded.

apple is for tech dumb people though. Everyone i know with an apple can’t talk to me about tech. And They get pissed off when i show them i can turn any mp3 into a ringtone and customize anything i’d want. They are these type of people that still thinks the phone you lug around makes you cool. They haven’t moved on from high school. That’s an apple person to me

Really sad to see that google is fumbling this opportunity.
I really hope they change the settings to what apple has.
Complete Support of the network or not at all and the standard being complete support.
Cause at the moment the settings are just too complicated, even though I am a complete Android Fan.
I really need a tracker for my luggage as I am travelling a lot and as a I got an android, there are not really much options.
My idea was to buy a third party tracker working with the apple find my network, so as long as i got internet i can see the tracker in the third party app on my android and track it down with that and it uses the apple network for locating, what you guys think?

  21. @vedanshchn

    July 1, 2024 at 2:14 pm

The “for now” in the title is such a sweet optimism filled message for a company whose home work was done by Apple years ago and simply had to replicate it (because that’s what they’re best at) but still failed.
They had the already perfect thing to compare and improve their crap but still couldn’t “yet”.

  22. @hometechUK

    July 1, 2024 at 2:18 pm

Its amazing that google by default tracks your every move & track what you do on your phone by then on a encrypted tracker is decides we dont make any money of this so we will not use the best option by defsult. Crazy, google really needs new management at the top.

  23. @JoyStickJester_

    July 1, 2024 at 2:35 pm

I have both an Apple Airtag and Samsung Smart Tag 2. I will admit the airtag works a little better. When tracking it tracks while the airtag is moving while the Smart Tag does not. I can find the smart tag but it doesn’t track while moving.

On the other hand I recently took a flight from California to Colorado and put both trackers in my luggage. One of my bags was left behind to take the next flight. Both trackers located my luggage in California but once my luggage was in flight to Colorado I was able to track my luggage on the plane. I was able to track it once it was flying over Utah.

    • @JoyTothesummer

      July 2, 2024 at 2:32 pm
