Whether or not God exists, the questions still do. Asking about the physics of time is not satisfied by saying “well… God.”
Perhaps someday we will have the chance to ask a superior being questions about the material world. Until then, we can be satisfied with constant inquiry with the materials we do have.

If I refer to empirical evidence as God ‘s miracles while adhering to how the rules of this universe functions, it satisfies both. Arguably, a sense of faith comes in handy when discussing things for which we have no answer. Such as what came ‘before’ the big bang.

Before the first big bang there was only void. A boundless expanse of nothing. Then a big bang happened and the void became 99.9+% nothing. Any number of bangs of any size can happen at any moment and at any point in the void. We could have been the first or we could be the most recent or 1000 more could have happened while I was writing this comment. No matter how many bangs happen, that boundless void will never dip below 99.9% empty

No, but a concept can be valid (grounded in reality) or invalid (not grounded in reality).
So, a concept exists in as much as the thing it describes exists.
So, while the word “time” is itself not actually “time itself”, the concept of “time” is grounded in the reality that all things, as far as has been observed thus far, happen sequentially as opposed to all at once or not at all.

Incoherent question. The supposition of eveything having a beginning is wrong. Time is not a thing anyway. The question would be correctly stated as “when did the relative rate of change begin?”, clearly nonsense. The real question is why is there something instead of nothing? Which is an unanswerable dilemma as “why” implies cause and effect, but the cause of something cannot be nothing.

Time didn’t begin. Time is a constant. We as linear beings, only perceive time as having a beginning present in an end. But that’s just our perception. In reality, it is always all times before during after exist simultaneously

If energy can not be destroyed or created, it is eternal (has always been).
So there has always been energy, and logic would dictate there has always been time.
The “big bang” was not a beginning of time, just the beginning of our universe.

The distinction of the north pole specifically is not relevant hlin his example. Say for example replace the north pole with something physical like the oval office. Once you’re in it can you be more in the oval office than you already are? There’s simply not more oval office.

Nobody has the answer to the question, “What was here before the beginning?“ because there IS no answer to that question. There was no “here“ before the/its own “beginning,” if there ever was a beginning.
Also, there is no fancy-schmancy “multiverse.” Everything that exists is right here in this universe.

Most likely, the big bang is something that has happened an infinite amount of times. All of the matter in space expands, then eventually slowly starts coming back together, then the big bang happens, then matter in space expands again, then comes back together again, then another big bang happens, so on and so forth.

How about going upward in the direction of the axis of the pole? Then you’d go one dimension higher than your 2D surface, i.e. in 3D you’d be in the next higher dimension still going north.

Once you hit the axis of the pole, regardless of height, you still can’t go “further north”. And that’s his point. If you’re at the north pole and there’s a helicopter hovering directly above you, it isn’t “more north” than you are. Once you are at the north pole, any further lateral movement has you instantly going South, until you change directions again after that

Physicists do a terrible job of explaining the Big Bang. Here is the KEY point. The big bang marks the beginning of *the observable universe*. Not “the universe”. That is all it is. Space could be twice as big or a million times as big or infinite. Likewise there could have been another big bang, or a million, or could still be many many big bangs happening constantly in sections of the universe we can never observe.
TLDR: we are Pandora’s Cat, we have identified we’re in a box, we realize we cannot open the box, we therefore define the box as being “the universe” and define the origin of the box as the beginning of time.

I first encountered this analogy through Stephen Hawking’s Universe in a Nutshell, and it’s certainly my favorite, along with “time” being not a real thing and simply an emergent subjective phenomenon. “Time” is not real, it’s a fiction of our experience in moving through the gamut of our existence in spacetime, which intersects with all other threads of experience. But we’re only able to experience one moment of that reality thread at a time, and only in a sequential order.

The argument is not that ‘anything that exists has a beginning’.
Thus is logically fallacious.
Imagine that every effect is a domino. I you trace every domino back, eventually, you would have to arrive at the first domino.
The argument is everything that begins to exist must have a cause of it’s existence.
Just like that first domino must have something that started it falling.
