iPhone 15 Pro battery life is terrible after upgrade to iOS26, liquid glass look fancy but is battery killer, wish I can turn glass look completely off to get better battery life.

iPhone 15 plus (what I have) is amazing! I think it gets better than the pro max!😂

My stepdad has an iPhone 13 with 64 GB of storage. The current update is 2 GB if the updates keep becoming this substantial he can only update 36 times before he has a full memory storage.

This was actually super helpful. I knew heat was bad for batteries, but didn’t realize wireless charging could make it worse too.

Hm? This is 2026 already, I thought the battery issue was already solved. Oh, this is about old-tech lithium batteries. I see…

New iPhones do just fine, this is probably for the old iPhones which I know older silicon carbon battery phones aren’t doing any better.

Definitely not solved for mini lovers

I loved my 13 mini so much that I replaced the battery at about 21 months. 25 months after that I dropped it from half a foot off my counter and lights out forever.
@ComparedToWhat5
May 13, 2026 at 8:36 pm
Why not have it repaired or replaced by Apple if you loved it so much?
@kevinkent6351
May 13, 2026 at 8:55 pm
@ComparedToWhat5I tried. Took it Apple Store and they diagnosed it, so to speak, as completely dead. Couldn’t get it turned back on for anything.

iPhone 17 pro max battery sucks. Barely last me from 6 am to 5 pm
@BruceLeeRoy26
May 13, 2026 at 9:01 am
Might just be your phone, mine lasts from 6 am to about 10:30 at night and I know for a fact I use mine more intensive than you. Go get yours looked at.

This is why I went for iPhone 16e.
They removed all the useless bells and whistles from it and filled all the freed space with battery, on top of a toned-down, extremely energy-efficient modern chip.
Everything they “cut” from this phone they did for the excellent battery life, noticeably better than in regular 16 or 16 Pro, very few reviews took a note on that.

They wear out faster

May 13, 2026 at 5:09 pm
@macbere3326 I change my phone every two years anyways so to me that’s not a big deal. I think if you asked most people, would you rather have a phone that last you 12 to 16 hours a day. But you’re guaranteed to have to get a new phone in two years I think they would say yes. Even if it starts to wear out and that 16 hour battery life falls even down to 10 hours. That still basically what we are getting right now. So there’s still a benefit.

@macbere3326that’s what Apple and Samsung want you to think, far from reality

I honestly think that wireless charging in phones was a mistake. Much less efficient, battery degrading and environmentally unfriendly way of charging.
@macbere3326
May 13, 2026 at 3:43 pm
Apple tried to sell faster chargers but people kept using the tiny power bricks. I think wireless charging was just supposed to be a quick way to add extra charge

My iPhone 12 Pro Max battery is at 79% health. I’m looking to finally upgrade to an 18 Pro Max, but may consider replacing the battery in the 12 before I give it to my daughter.

I’m still sitting at 94% max capacity with my iPhone 14 Plus. I use Magsafe charging most times, but I charge the phone face-down so the puck is facing upward and I’ll also either point a small portable fan at it or lay a battery bank on top that has an aluminum shell to act as a heatsink. And of course, don’t let it charge fully. 👍

Apple doesn’t optimize Apple controls That’s what they do they control your phone to give you better or battery Android gives you a little bit less battery but more control can’t stand Apple

These battery technologies are all very interesting and great, but I would also like to hear about how these silicon batteries impact the environment, once depleted. These don’t strike me as breaking down well naturally, which means they’ll need to be processed to break them down, and that introduces complexities into the recyclability of the battery. It would be nice if new technologies could be designed in partnership with environmental advocates to ensure we’re not introducing worse materials into an already nightmarish e-waste pile for the sake of profitability and upgrade lust.

IMHO, since you don’t get a new phone that often, wait until the fall to get the newest model, instead of upgrading mid-cycle. If for no other reason, Apple will support your iPhone with software for 1 year longer if you get the 2026 model.
