Your Empty Wine Bottle Could Help Rebuild Coastlines | Franziska Trautmann | TED
What if you could take something as tiny as a grain of sand — and as common as a glass bottle — and use it to tackle the climate crisis? Waste alchemist Franziska Trautmann shares how the spark of an idea turned into a large-scale operation helping restore the eroded shores of Louisiana and beyond.…

She needs to educate herself on the true causes of climate change. She also needs to understand scientists didnt invent climate change, the Rockefeller Foundation did.

This is outstanding. Could the glass sand be used in building projects ie in place of the normal sand used mortar?

Why would you crush the already blown (created) glass into sand, instead of just recycling those bottles and using the sand that would normally go into making new bottles for rebuilding the eroded land?
They literally do this in places like The Gambia where bars and restaurants keep the glass soda and beer bottles and swap the crates of them out with the delivery guy when he drops off the newly filled ones. They get fully washed and sterilised before being refilled, and sure, you’re going to get an amount of them smashed, so you’re always going to need to create an amount of new ones, but you can at least reduce the need. With how standardised the model is for glass bottles, especially wine bottles, you could absolutely have sorters to send those back to the companies to refill, which would save a fair whack of energy instead of using energy to both produce the new bottles and then more energy to crush them into stand and transport the resulting sand to the places where it’s going to be used.
It really seems like these kinds of startups get by because no one is questioning the logic of adding more steps to the process, rather than just simplifying it as much as is reasonable and putting that wasted energy to better use, for example in dropping electricity prices for the consumer.

Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them. People prefer to spend money on liabilities, Rather than investing in assets and be very profitable

We use energy to produce bottles from sand. Now we can reuse these bottles, or we can build walls with battles, or we can recycle the glass, or … To consume energy to make them sand again is… stupid.
Climate change is about energy consumption. Pollution is a different thing.
