I appreciate how Apple lets you just keep ordering. Way better than basically everyone else that just says out of stock. At least by placing an order, they know how many they need to build and can accurately see demand.

Terrible experience this year for me. Store wouldn’t open for me until 8:10 am (same on 3 devices and two networks). By then it was delivery in December. I was on the fence and I guess Apple made the decision for me.

Former Apple employee here. Preorder and store inventories are separate. A preorder secures your allocation, not necessarily the earliest arrival. The Duo’s production is constrained by quality control issues, but stores typically replenish inventory within days. Your preferred color or capacity may require patience. Store purchases are first come, first served; employees cannot reserve phones by telephone. Apple’s website and Apple Store app show availability for same day pickup or two hour delivery at checkout. My advice: wait a week after launch, check local inventory, and bypass the preorder queue. I’ve purchased iPhones directly from Apple Stores around launch since 2007. I never preorder. ….

I had mine preordered and right at the time it went live I ordered within 15 secs. Mine is being delivered express on Oct 23rd. At least that’s what they say.

Limited because so many units are failing when they come off the assembly line. They may get it right in a couple of iterations, but this isn’t the one to buy. Unless you get 2 grand to blow – which a lot of folks here can do!

Try to fill in the blanks on this one…
Certain people ge to cut in line, but….
Previously it was only for items such as the iPhone 18 promax with the full 2TB option, and then also for two of the four colors. It meant that, one got to chose their own time and location for that item, or have it shipped to you – essentially first off of the truck.
The same for the Duo… Not sure about the color option item, but for *certain people*, those people could still choose their store, choose the time, have a very limited in line wait (almost a secondary cut in line), but… Only for the $3,200 usd version.

I was not messing around on my “Get Ready order”
After many app refreshes , i got in at 8:01 EST. I scrolled all the way down to Apple Pay check out. Didn’t read anything just accepting all the defaults.
I still got a Delivery of Nov 2-9th on my 8:01 EST order. Crazy not even an Oct delivery date with how quick i scrolled and paid.
People weren’t lying about low stock.

It doesn’t matter because everyone will be sending them back after they do their reviews on them just like they did the iPhone 18 it’s sad I wish Apple would come up with something to stop this because they’re people out here that really want the phone to keep not just review it get some views and then send it back smh
