As someone who puts up signs for the public, it sure would help if we had a functioning educational system. Literacy is pretty low and common sense and problem solving is even lower. Curtesy towards others feels like it’s at an all time low as well

I’m subscribed, long time fan, but this is the first time Ted has popped up in my YTshorts algorithm.

Reaching the end of a short, dying to hear the rest of the presentation instead of just scrolling, reminds me of the fascinating long-form content I used to love here.

Thanks for snapping me awake, looking forward to catching up with Ted Talks

I’m surprised there wasnt a sign saying to only flush toilet paper or “do not flush _____”. I see those everywhere

    • @XoIoRouge

      June 21, 2026 at 7:11 pm

@trealelizabeth9176 those signs aren’t actually in the same vicinity she’s talking about. She is taking about sign DESIGN and how they help guide us. The signs you’re talking about are warning legality signs, because flushing the wrong thing can cause damage which will lead to lawsuits.

@XoIoRouge How would that lead to a lawsuit? The company is the one that owns the building and they don’t know who caused the damage so there is no one to sue. And if it was for legality then wouldn’t every business have these signs?

I love it when such unnecessary, handwritten, almost illegible writing also contains 5 spelling mistakes per word, or when the grammar is completely bananas.

Wait why is that actually so cute of humans 😭 we’re like “I see that a lot of people are having issues, let me gently guide them” idk that’s kinda wholesome

The moments where we whose to help rather than judge are always the best imo

1:23 that “no chip” sign could be because there’s a card skimmer

They still do Ted Talks? I thought they ended after Obama went away.

That light switch looks like a fire alarm. I wouldn’t have touched it, either.

“Push then pull” is because that electric door strike doesn’t have pre-load capability. Essentially, it is jammed by the pressure of the door and can’t release unless you take the pressure off. Newer strikes have fixed this problem, so I would agree it is bad design.

    “Redesigners”

I would have thought the “this is a light switch” sign was covering up the light switch… which just happened to be above the fire alarm.

    I’m gonna need an arrow.
