“Would I do it all again? Of course, I would.” #TEDTalks
After leading a well-established life as a pastor, father and husband, Paula Stone Williams could no longer deny her truth and transitioned. In this conversational and at times humorous reflection, Williams offers her perspective on the everyday experiences lost, gained and once taken for granted in her journey of trans womanhood.

Having mental health issues and claiming they are empowering rather than something that needs to be addressed, is not healthy. I’m sorry your parents didn’t pay attention to you. You should also stop glorifying it.

Haven’t watched the whole talk, but this seems very one-sided. Norah Vincent directly challenges this by describing her own experience living as a man, arguing that many men face significant loneliness, emotional isolation, and social pressures that are often overlooked. Her account suggests that being a man can be more difficult than common stereotypes assume.
@Dx-Dm
July 2, 2026 at 6:50 am
@pumasoccer90 it could be that the kind of work influences the experience. Also, I’m pretty sure Norah talked about benefits in addition to the drawbacks of living as a man.
@Deimos118

@Dx-Dm- Both mn and wmn have benefits and drawbacks. It’s ideologues however who keep pushing this idea of wm being underdogs despite legally having more rights than mn.

@kwikky22 genuinely, why do men need to comment on literally everything? do they want a cookie for being mean to everyone on the internet? i don’t think they understand how truly pathetic it looks from the outside. like holy crap lmao. it’s funny that ted is supposed to be a place to learn about many different experiences from professionals or people who have unique perspectives, yet they don’t take a second to listen to the other side. i hope u have a great day friend ❤️
@Deimos118
July 2, 2026 at 12:00 pm
Why mn no show their emotions? Also lol watch me talk trash about mn then call them fragile for having any opinion and or objections.
The only stink here is the entitlement of thinking you know better the lived experience of mn you don’t even know.

@zbaerenlovesme5216
July 1, 2026 at 11:21 am
@necopprimerenecopprimi exactly. While she may have the perspective of a woman now? She did not have the perspective of a young girl watching her twin brother get praised while she was criticized. She did not have the perspective of a young woman entering the workforce against men.
How disheartening to hear her claim that women don’t know.

@zbaerenlovesme5216 while everything you said I agree on except of the sibling situation, it’s so sad your parents or family or the people around you were very horrible, speaking from experience I have twin siblings both female and we love them to bits and I can’t imagine anyone trying to belittle them even once or even see them shed a tear 😂…we gonna go to war with anyone who was responsible for it …

Trans women or women. Don’t be rude. When you make a comment, it should be about the topic, not the speaker.

You know what we can all understand? Not having money to feed our children because of the ultra rich. All our divisions are artificiap and will not change until the system which perpetuates is dismantled.

“I haven’t watched the whole thing but I’m going to go off anyways” lol This is an older talk, I believe from over 10 years ago, and she does have a balanced conclusion. She’s not teaching women about being a woman, she’s describing how her experiences changed when she started presenting as a woman. I recommend finding the full video!
