Because we are human and, even more importantly, most jobs don’t pay a livable wage (don’t comment saying people just need better jobs because someone will ALWAYS have to work those sadly lower paying jobs for society to function, as we are learning during this pandemic, but many still refuse to acknowledge). I wish people would acknowledge THAT part before telling us to just save more and spend less, trying to make it seem like it’s a personal failing or not knowing how to do math. If you barely have the money to live on, where do you believe people will get the money to save or invest (and let’s not even start on what happened with Reddit and the stock market, showing us that we are allowed to invest as long as we don’t cause too much of a stir for the rich folks, lol). The business world is always trying to get us to spend money and put things on credit, knowing very well, a LARGE portion of us can’t really afford it because of our low wages, which keep people in debt. People work way too hard and way too long to ever not be able to order a pizza or go to the movies a few times a month because some money guru tells you you need to cut back on wasteful expenses. If that movie made me happy, it wasn’t wasteful because it helped my mental health to be able to go and laugh at something for an hour and a half… another part of this we seem to ignore, as well.

    • Eli Nope

      February 3, 2021 at 2:45 am

No, you have to open your eyes and see that you can buy more with the same money in the future. You just got to wait for it to bloom first. When you see it the right way, your natural greed will have you saving and investing. Change your perspective, change your life.

The minimum wage is too low and the cost of living is too high. The US government and Corporate America fucked us all. I couldn’t even save enough to afford a down payment for a college loan. My survival spending habits are not the problem.

Investing in your own life is the safest return on investment you can do and it breaks cracks in the control systems in its own way. Install rain barrels & Compost bins if you can for cutting down on the utilities. Off your subscriptions that are not pulling their weight. Remove a vanity object in your yard to put a food bearing plant in it’s place. Little things.

You had the time to do it before and you have the time now. Showers take piss just as good as toilets, put in the more efficient bulbs next time, install adblocks to save yourself time. Just really, seriously put a time aside to really set yourself right & undercut the running costs holding you down. Plus it’ll get you faster to owning a bigger Stock playing card if that’s still your thing in a month.

Money as it exists in Stockland *is* an illusion (its a subscription arcade game w/pay to win) where you can make money out of nothing. You absolutely can go back to learning & sharpening yourself for winning that fight if you’d like but just consider letting that also run in the background a while you’re setting your life in order.
