So good to hear from an often silenced voice. An Asian man who grew up in Silicon Valley.
The classic Silicon Valley story—raised by (mostly) white parents in one of the wealthiest, most resource-rich regions in the world. The struggle must have been unbearable, having to endure all that Wi-Fi, startup culture, and gourmet kombucha on tap. Clearly, he’s the poster child for overcoming adversity.
For those skeptics, an immigrant from any other country would have had the same opportunity as him to “get noticed” by Stephen Spielberg.
And to be a descendant of one of the first Asian restaurants in racist San Francisco in the 1970’s. This is truly brave.
And!!! for him to admit his white Asian privilege. So brave. This needs to occur more amongst content creators.
