I don’t use their cloud to store anything. I want clarification if they mean only the cloud or what I am actually working on locally. If locally, I’ll gladly spend the time setting my art drawing monitor up to use different software and delete Adobe from my system and put a block to all adobe sites in my hosts file.

I thinks they can access locally as well, beacuse they use your internet to prove youre using the paid version of the software, so as soon as we are connected to the internet, they, sadly, will have full access to out content 🙁

I’m using 2024. OK so I can’t update it, but it’s fine. If you scan it for viruses, they will be false positives.

Just cancelled my adobe subscription. It was the 9.99/mo “photography plan”. They need to know people won’t bat an eye to replace them. At least it let me cancel and even delete apps without any issue. I’ve been wanting to try something more simple like Capture One or similar. Anyone have any recommendations?

Another switcher here. Spent a few days replicating my workflow in Affinity Photo/Design (50% off right now), and DaVinci Resolve. Honestly, they’re better than Photoshop/Illustrator/Premiere, and I refused to switch for probably a decade. Man, Adobe’s software has become slow and buggy. Will be canceling Creative Cloud in a few days. Thanks for getting me out of my lethargy.

Same here, exactly. Held on to CS6 until Affinity released v2, then switched 100%. And, after getting used to it, I much prefer DaVinci Resolve over PP+AE.

They sell data, marketing and engagement software products but cannot understand their own customers. The fact data harvesting is enabled by default is a ploy that should be regulated…they can scrape everything before you get to disable it. Utter scam from yet another soulless shareholder driven money harvester. Sad that greed stifles even common courtesy, let alone destruction of innovation and a void in what should be meaningful interactions.

I decided not to continue with Adobe when they changed to the subscription model a few years back. It seemed like they were becoming the bad guys.

Not a chance in hell that adobe will bend the neck to roll it back. They will never return to standalone functioning model of their software, cloud has rotten through the fabric of most if not all their products.
Icon miniatures can be generated within users’ cloud cache space using dedicated workers running in user/tenant context, but that would require adobe not being %%$$&&# with $^$%%&&@ from ##$*^% wallets.

Finally, the fabled “Pay to have your shit stolen” business model.
So, suppose you’re in the middle of some sensitive work. If you want to remove said work from Adobe to use, say, Davinci Resolve, you have to accept. But if it’s sensitive data, you can’t accept or you’ll possibly be breaking an NDA. Did I get that right?

I am an Adobe user but I don’t save anything to their cloud services, so I can care less if they access my files on the cloud. But does this mean they have the right to access my personal computer? That’s where I draw the line.

Don’t forget that all things you do in Photoshop has a backup in cloud. So it really doesn’t matter if you’re saving on your computer or not.

I quit using the overpriced proprietary commercial programs over 10 years ago. There are open source alternatives, such as, Krita, Blender 3D Suite, and Inkscape. They’ve each come a long way and can get better with more input from artists, devs, and anyone that donates money and other resources. Also, Gimp has made much improvement since its humble beginning. Open Source can set you free, and is a blessing to any artists, animators, and other creative people who can’t afford pricey apps with limiting and intrusive license agreements. And if they help themseves to your content when AI bots make pictures, we ought to wonder if they are programmed to take from the internet and devices connected to it. We need to protect our creative rights regardless of what image production programs we use, as well as, what we rely on to store our files.

Affinity 50% off – but recently acquired by Canva (cloud-based) so who knows if they will not follow Adobe’s crazed plan.
Adobe may ‘regret’ their current approach and walk back, but I do not believe that this would last and they would find some other way to con users in.
Another thing seen in the past. Companies changing what they do with data, but not letting their client-base find out till well after the fact. At some stage they then release an apology or explanation, but they already have the content (I do not believe any corporate is that stupid not to expect a backlash).
AI-content on any platform requires some way to ‘learn’, whether Microsoft, Adobe, Google, Apple, Meta, etc. Software ‘AI’ has been with us for years, only getting more ‘intuitive’ recently with the advances in chips and their systems. But they have to be able to learn (anyone watch Depp’s “Transcendence”, 2014)?
I am re-evaluating my association with Adobe, without a doubt, but I do not believe for a New York second that this cat is not well and truly out the bag, across the street, and has been pillaging the neighbourhood felines for a while now.

I’m cautiously optimistic re: the Canva acquisition. At the moment, it _seems_ good. Still, with Affinity you *_own your software, you don’t RENT it._* And as of v2, it’s been amazing.

I haven’t used Adobe in years. Use PaintDotNet, Gimp and Kdenlive. Free and easy to use. Of course movies and such require specialized stuff, but for most these work perfectly.

i work for a large surf clothing brand. and this will have major legal ramifications. What about copyrighted , trademarked, registered , or patented graphics/designs. adobe shit the bed on this one. Say Nike has top secret designs they don’t want anyone to see but Nike staff, how will this work. since they use illustrator for pretty much all Design and they are crazy about security and copyrights intellectual property , etc.
