Why Apple will build a car

And, for good measure, some very good reasons it may not. An Apple car must be distinctive, popular and profitable, or the company has little reason to risk its financial and reputational capital.

Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble, but cars are closer to computers than they are cars anymore. Check out what’s going on in the John Deere Tractors and Right to Repair world.

    Apple Car: $50,000
    iRadio: $800
    iSelfDrive: $5,000

And it comes with a microLED display

Yet they will upsell you a lot, especially with parts lol. Even tiny problems that are less than $100 to fix, they will charge you like $500 lol. Well see. Maybe they may change. *Cough cough* let’s not go the same would upcharging people like their macbooks for one tiny issue.

I’m worried the Apple Car’s design will be boring and/or ugly and it starts a trend that has other car brands emulate it and we’ll have a future of ugly and unthoughtfully designed cars on the road. But to see what Apple will come up with I am guiltily intrigued.

One day you. will add an apple car to your iPhone contract and choose the model most affordable to your income. The cost of the vehicles will be based on battery size and hardware but with a choice of only 3 models.

“Nobody knows design better than Apple.”
Nike? Adidas? BMW? Mercedes-Benz? General Motors? Even Coca-Cola knows design.

Apple’s designs are so overrated, they’re mostly overly simplistic, un creative and uninspired.

The “iCar” should just be an infotainment system. Getting into making cars… As hard as it is to imagine anything bringing down a corporate behemoth like Apple, jumping into the auto industry is probably what would be able to do it. It’s just so different from what they’re used to, especially regulatory-wise.

Wow. 1:30 Apple should do this because they disrupted an industry 1.5 decades ago. Well Microsoft should make a car to disrupt the industry because they disrupted OS’s.

“Industry RIPE for disruption”…OK, not to be rude, but Industry has ‘already” been disrupted by Tesla, both for EV and autonomous tech. This is why Tesla’s valuation is so absurd.

Apple can’t do any risky projects, especially ones with the huge potential loss, because it’s being *ruled* by a steward, not a king. Can you imagine Building a factory in Berlin, knowing it can be demolished without permits…or take risks in autonomy as Musk has done.
Fortune favours the bold, and apple is, not bold.

Apple could buy out Lucid Motors. Lucid has the same target demographic of buyers looking for luxury, and they would prefer a company that hasn’t been completely established yet so that they could shape their products the way they want to.

  36. David P

    March 5, 2021 at 9:23 pm

Although Apple could completely build a car on their own without the help of anyone because they have the cash it doesn’t mean they should. Why not partner with Toyota. Reliability and experience is there. Where am I going to pick up my Apple Car? They don’t have room at the Apple Store for cars. I think they should focus on AI and improve Siri first. She needs a update.

  37. Alien Josh

    March 5, 2021 at 9:32 pm

The apple car will be subscription based no one will own one but everyone will use them. It will put most companies like Uber and Lyft out of business and personal car ownership will be relegated to the rich.

1:28 Ripe for disruption?…:Telsa has already Disrupted… That ship has sailed ..

Rest are just playing catch-up… Including proposed Apple’s entry… Fyi…

  44. Ad Astra

    March 5, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Apple will build a car and probably a rocket and go to mars at some point…they usually sit back, learn from everyone’s else’s failures and successes and then strike.

The other reason they will is because their current walled in garden business model, supported by services, and software and hardware is maturing so significantly that it is going to decline rapidly at some point…how many PC upgrades and Iphone Ipad upgrades are folks willing to bear before enough is enough…as an example they/are going to go through 2 more gens of iphones over the next 5 years by first narrowing the notch, then eliminating it…at some point it is truly ridiculous. They have the advancements in tech to have removed the notch 2 years ago, but instead are milking the slower evolution for everything they can get…

    March 5, 2021 at 11:37 pm

If you’re going to learn from Apple TV then you’d say .. oh they don’t make the TV but they make everything else ..therefore, oh they don’t make the car but they make the AI is plausible
