Yes, after all the white slaves got transported from Europe to India and worked on the foundations of that state, while never being allowed ownership and therefore collectively lagging behind the median of the Indian society they really should talk more about giving white people a chance…
@AndogaSpock

There is absolutely talk of DEI in India. Much like slavery, India had its caste system, and has oppressed a vast majority of people into the occupation that they were born into, for 1000s of years. Now there are quotas in government jobs to people from lower castes.

Most sane people support DEI both in principle and practice. Where it’s gone wrong is saturation of aggressive messaging from ideologues and performative BS from media and corporations. Which only serves to provoke the bigots further and further. And here we are. A divided, polarised culture war fuelled by bad actors, grifters, and brainwashed fools on either side.
The world will never be fair. But it can be fairer. By manifesting basic levels of intellectual honesty, empathy, and carefully implemented affirmative action.
Progress is hard and messy. A liberal democracy accepts that and meets the challenge with tolerance and flexibility. We are at a moment in history. Be sure you’re on the right side.

If you have a job opening in your team, and you interview 2 candidates. After 30 mins of conversation/interview with each, both candidates seem equal to you. One is white, one is black, whom do you pick ?
@fyka2902
March 21, 2025 at 5:10 am
@@AndogaSpock No one is equal, if you know people they will be working with. There will always be characteristics (other than the childish colour matching exercises) that would better suit the role. 30mins should be more than enough to identify them. DEI is a waste of time and money in the real world. If DEI can not be practiced in all industries, it’s simply not logical or effective. DEI is actually about dividing people. it’s about continuing the narrative of these people are the oppressors and the others are the victims. The next time you drive to the grocery store park in the furthest parking spot from the door opposed to the closest. That’s how effective DEI is.
@ronkirk5099
March 22, 2025 at 10:23 am
Conservatives in the U.S. seem to think a couple decades of DEI to give minorities a hand up and compensate for literally centuries of discrimination, marginalization, and in the case of black Americans, enslavement is enough and the problem of inequity of opportunity is solved. Until minorities are represented proportionally in both the private and public sphere positions of power, the job is far from over and solved.
