0:29 … folding phones as the future?
    what does that even mean?
that more people will be using folding phones than regular phones? does anyone really believe that?
maybe just part of the future (10 – 15%) not THE future?

All you millennials move on! This is a redesign based on the 2020 Razr not the 90s version. Bring it to USA!

  7. Tony Hawk

    August 11, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Hey Cnet, if it’s supposed to be about Motorola, at least make sure you mention “Motorola” more than you do “Samsung”. I came here to see what Motorola is up to, not Samsung.

  8. Bryan Patterson

    August 11, 2022 at 11:07 pm

Thinking about “upgrading” to the flip 4. But there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between my flip 3. Maybe upgrade for $99 and sell on ebay? Then pick up razr 2022?

    • Carl Brenda

      August 12, 2022 at 12:24 am

Wouldn’t bother. There is no rush to get the new Flip like last year. So selling on eBay will not get you a huge return.

  9. Soldier Boy

    August 11, 2022 at 11:14 pm

I just don’t understand why they don’t make a 7.0 inch Razr, back then the Razr was considered a huge phone at the time when it was popular so it makes sense to make it bigger than the Z Flip 4

  10. Jack Kelly

    August 11, 2022 at 11:16 pm

CNET Motorola fold device will take 5 years before they can catch up with Samsung. 😏
But by then Samsung is way ahead. 😆

    • Carl Brenda

      August 12, 2022 at 12:40 am

Absolutely not. While overall the Flip series has the edge, Motorola has caught up with this iteration of foldables. It only really trails in software and water rating. Motorola beats the flip hands down with the front display capabilities alone. Not to mention the nearly invisible crease……. And I am a Samsung fan!

    August 11, 2022 at 11:21 pm

    Looks bland

  12. Chew Kim Soon

    August 11, 2022 at 11:31 pm

I think it would be a great idea of Motorola relaunch a classic StarTac phone equipped with Android. Also, give user an option to add on battery capacity at the front of the phone to bring back the StarTac feel.

Chinese company copying from Korean. Is this why they are not launching worldwide?

    August 11, 2022 at 11:57 pm

Looks nice, I actually prefer the desing of this over the flip, but no matter what you all say, the flip is still a better package overall, with way better software support and it’s available worldwide

Lmao, just like how someone gets pulled over for DUI and I cop always tells you he just want to make sure your okay to drive and you’ll be on your way. And 100% of the time they will never get back in their vehicle lmao.

Is it coming to North America

  21. Brian Hartman

    August 12, 2022 at 12:47 am

Foldables are going to have to come down in price before they really hit the mainstream. Even with the price drop, you’re still spending the better part of $1,000 for a foldable. In the case of the Razr, I don’t know why someone would pay that much money just to get a phone that folds up smaller.

  22. Joshua Essary

    August 12, 2022 at 1:04 am

I’m rooting for these phones. Motorola was the only one that seemed to figure out how to mostly avoid the crease. It’s hard to tell if the same is going to be for this generation. It does look like it is arching the screen into the hinge like the old one.

    • 조지 엘리엇

      August 12, 2022 at 1:22 am

That hinge method was Samsung’s idea, which was rejected due to long term durability issue.

  23. phonepup_mk8DX

    August 12, 2022 at 1:06 am

To me a global company launching a phone in a more niche market doesn’t scream they think it’s the future.

Phones bent in 2006, why is this a new thing in 2022? I’ll stick with my iPhone 8, doubt I’ll upgrade for 10 years as phones are boring now – all phones are boring.

The Razr 3 drops the retro styling. Despite the improving specs, it’s not unique.

    • Armond Welch

      August 12, 2022 at 11:47 pm

Exactly. And I was 100% gonna buy it until i discovered that news

  42. TechCircuit

    August 12, 2022 at 7:13 pm

Samsung shipped nearly 10 million units of galaxy folding phones last year. Samsung’s market share on folding phone segment is crazy. But if Motorola and other companies like Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi start selling their folding phones internationally they will reduce Samsung market share and also create a lot of competition in the segment which is a big win the consumers. Because we’ll get better folding devices at a good price.

Kinda lame that they ditched the razr styling. I’m sure this version is more reliable but it looks alot more generic as well

    • Horizon

      August 12, 2022 at 10:34 pm

Yeah exactly this. Went with the Z Flip4 since the Razr doesn’t look particularly unique anymore. Just looks like a Z Flip 5G with a larger outer display.

  44. Mac

    August 12, 2022 at 7:45 pm

What a massive design downgrade. Looks like a knock off of the Z Flip, rather than a Razr.

  51. ValiGB

    August 13, 2022 at 11:43 am

It kills me that they don’t increase the small screen to a 3.2″ size so that you could use it properly on most apps while folded. That would double the battery life.

  52. residentgood

    August 13, 2022 at 12:24 pm

Motorola should make 6inch foldable phones with 128gb, 256gb with better battery life or else they can forget about mobile race

  53. Anonymous 666

    August 13, 2022 at 12:29 pm

i prefer the previous model in terms of “look” this new one just looks bland imo, i dont mind about the chip or specs too much from the previous model, as long it can do calls, messaging apps, good storage, thats the most important for me, camera, youtube, social media its just a plus for me, as long its run ok thats it, no need for the fastest chip, big screen, high hz etc. lets be honest, well at least for me, if i wanna buy the razr, its because of the nostalgia looks in todays “standard” thats all.

  54. Tomer Brosilow

    August 13, 2022 at 1:10 pm
