The metaverse could be our key to making real progress in the fight against climate change, says engineer Cedrik Neike. Examining how AI-powered modeling eliminates the trial and error of wasteful industries, he explores how this emerging technology is already improving everything from the gigafactories that churn out electric car batteries to the fuel efficiency of your home. Learn more about how these “digital twins” are transforming the world — and not a moment too soon.

Countdown is TED’s global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. Get involved at

Let’s be clear here. There is no climate crisis. Just manipulation of the weather systems and wild fires started by arsonists and direct energy weapons! The earth actually needs more CO2 not less!

To solve population growth, you plug into metaverse and your physical body is ignored. No food no water…little by little online players die in the real world and the solution has been accomplished. All the while climate change has only changed because people are plugged in. When they unplug the real world will be dying because society would have interrupted the normal cycle.

I don’t understand how that was at all different than modeling using any other modeling software.

Metaverses require big data centers and server farms to deliver the experience to the end users. How many of them will be ENTIRELY powered by green energy?

No it can not. Too many idiots wasting their lives and energy hiding from the real world playing Farmville. Quit tryna make Meta look like a GOOD thing. Clearly paid advertising. … WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.

It’s -65°F today on Greenland. Anyone for a swim? China seeing coldest weather in 50 years. Hong Kong 40°sF Magic CO2! _India only in the 50°sF clear south to Bhopal!_

California, Oregon and Washington, now faced with huge broken budgets, looted pension funds and Cap&Trade auctions fizzling out, have filed a $100B lawsuit against the oil refineries, claiming that they ‘hid the truth’ about ‘climate change’.

The 3W USA Future. It’s back to Walking, Waiting and Wood stoves … Oh, wait. _They banned wood stoves!_
    😂🎉

There is no “Climate Crisis”……There has been no increase in hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, droughts, wildfires, heatwaves, sea levels, human migration, nations disappearing, animals disappearing, deforestation, or charging stations promised by the fake “Inflation Reduction act”…… folks….. there is no “Climate Crisis”..,.,. what are these people after?

  22. @bademoxy

    December 21, 2023 at 10:18 am

Climate change? Like the 5 Ice Ages planet Earth’s already had-long before human industry- often with average temperatures in between them MUCH hotter than current temperatures, yet supported much greater biodiversity than the present, including the poles , where tropical fossils are now covered by ice caps .
Too much carbon produced? Like whenever volcanos -especially supervolcanos- emit more in a single eruption than the accumulated output of all human activity in history? These events originate in Earth’s tectonic plate movement, something NO amount of tax theft can control.
Carbon still is a problem? Any biologist running a successful green house realizes plants CONSUME carbon(in fact thrive in hot atmospheres containing 1100 ppm carbon, because it’s their primary vital NUTRIENT.

When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be about how everybody should move to the Metaverse and stop doing a lot of thins in the real universe, that could be something to discuss. But extensive simulation adding Metaverse word is not…
