I downloaded it now. ebven though I never intended to. but whenever that crook of a president says something, do the opposite. that’s free advice.

Even if they won’t sell to American company, it’s a successful app all over the world.. And I hope they won’t sell it at all

I hope this will make PWA app support of each mobile OS better as a good effect.

Ban Chinese apps by saying they’re “communist”, so that the American tech giants can keep the monopoly and keep being rich.

    Classic.

      September 19, 2020 at 12:47 am

I’d rather support the economy of a free, democratic nation than an authoritarian, communist regime of criminals

    • Kaze Xo

      September 19, 2020 at 1:11 am

@Tom Wightman You are a very good example to show why western media is so successful at brainwashing its people to think its biggest competitor is evil (40 years ago it was against Japan, even earlier it was against Russia), particularly those people in Five Eyes who have been spied and manipulated accordingly for a long time.

American companies and govt have control over every single platform most English-speaking people use, that’s a HUGE political power, it’s a monopoly they really don’t wanna lose.

    • Tom Wightman

      September 19, 2020 at 1:15 am

Kaze Xo The American government has very little control. As you could see in the Cambridge Analytica scandal a few years ago, the American government has little idea of how these Big Data companies like Facebook operate (watch the senate hearings), as they are the ones who truly hold the power, not the state.

    September 18, 2020 at 11:36 pm

i find it strange for a communist run country ….that holds strong internet regulation over its citizens …..to be so positively supportive and interested of a social networking trolling video app….. and chat app….for the rest of the world outside of it …….

    • Kaze Xo

      September 18, 2020 at 11:55 pm

You are brainwashed to even think it’s communist in the first place

  7. SPEAK UP

    September 18, 2020 at 11:38 pm

WhatsApp is like WeChat right? And Reels is the knock off version of TikTok on Instagram. Problem solved.

  16. Prince Froggie

    September 19, 2020 at 12:25 am

Apple users need to switch country, Android user can do that or just download APK. Connection will be slightly worse as Canada and Mexico servers are still there. So in short term, no big impact. For long term, expect VPN sales go up.

  39. Greg G

The easy and obvious explanation, is that a particular American President didn’t like users on tiktok embarrassing him, so he went after the platform. Wechat is just the decoy so people can’t say he is singling only one company out.

Crazy a magistrate in is is banning wechat feom being cancelled on grounds of first amendment saying free speech. Trouble with us is they dont make sense and always seem to be attacking one another.

Would a Chinese magistrate dare to intervene if the Chinese president Xi Jinping had tried banning a US app. No chance.

CCP have banned pretty much all American internet companies.
It’s only fair that we ban them as well.
Everyone supports an open internet but when some countries don’t respect it, we’ll show them we have the nerve to do what’s right.
