While I disagreed with the band because of security threats. Seriously where is the evidence. In this case, this has merit.

    • vall 77

      March 23, 2023 at 4:31 pm

It was confirmed it key logged and harvested information from the local area network on the device that it was on and Chinese servers kept identifying marks and passwords this is not hearsay this actually happened.

  5. Tarkus

    March 23, 2023 at 4:01 pm

    Good. Ban it.

Acquire by a US company? Seems like the US just want Tiktok for themselves.

  8. vall 77

    March 23, 2023 at 4:31 pm

Not only do they show different stuff in China versus the US it’s always to our detriment this isn’t a “maybe Gathering data” this is actually happening it was proven Chinese data centers did possess a database of identifying features and markings passwords and key logs of activity outside of the app and even in local area Networks that the devices with the application were on the whole thing is a botnet.

@Manfred Knorr they say is too cringe but I agree that

  13. Alan Ball

    March 23, 2023 at 7:31 pm

If they ban it maybe they’ll also consider Facebook who does the same thing but through a third party. If you don’t think any/all governments buy data from Facebook for example think again.

  14. acay

    March 23, 2023 at 7:34 pm

That is the silliest excuse for banning I have ever heard. More to this that meets the eye

What about my own private so called “security” when the big tech thugs in the US openly spying on me and on the rest of the naive American ???? 🤣🤣🤣 Or is it when you people got beaten badly by the Chinese in your own game and on your own turf, you turned into a little whiny bit*h and become the laughingstock for the rest of the world ????

The US government is a joke. Ban an app they think might control their citizens while they are doing it themselves.

  22. Zones

    March 24, 2023 at 12:01 am

I’m convinced the US government either has bots, or is working in tandem with Indians to promote the ban and flood comment sections with garbage

  23. Alan Voo

    March 24, 2023 at 12:27 am

They will never ban it Bec the next gen will send all these law makers packing n jobless

  24. ThatguyRuby

    March 24, 2023 at 12:52 am

I don’t believe what TikTok is doing is right, but to ban TikTok for that would imply that banning Facebook is also a good idea.

    • Kristopher Tyner

      March 24, 2023 at 7:42 pm

      Add twitter to that

  25. junxi ding

    March 24, 2023 at 2:11 am

The CCP prohibits Chinese residents from registering and using TWITTER, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE, GOOGLE, TELEGRAM accounts, and even prohibits Chinese residents from registering TikTok accounts, and does not allow its citizens to voice their voices on these platforms. The U.S. government should reciprocally ban all Chinese social software from circulating in the U.S. . This CEO is an agent trained and cultivated by the CCP since childhood, just like the family of the former general secretary of the CCP cultivated Guo Wengui and Ma Yun

  26. Blake Russo

    March 24, 2023 at 4:02 am

    Ban it

  27. waynerc28

    March 24, 2023 at 6:12 am

It’s only being banned because the Facebook has been lobbying to do so. TikTok shares the same information any other platform does.

  28. Tyler Haile

    March 24, 2023 at 7:52 am

It’s mostly not about security concerns, it’s because Meta dropped MILLIONS into lobbying congress because it’s losing users, can’t compete and it’s cheaper to buy politicians than it is to improve itself.

    • RealGuy

      March 24, 2023 at 4:02 pm

    • nanofilms

      March 24, 2023 at 11:58 pm

Right like it’s not my fault Instagram is trying to be everyone it’s not unique at all and Facebook is literally just used for old ppl and that’s because they didn’t experiment with something new to bring a younger audience

      Don’t forget YouTube shorts

    • Mr.Bopper

      March 25, 2023 at 8:42 pm

@Janni Gulde Iversen tiktok has affected youth WAY worse than any social media ever has. With challenges resulting in multiple deaths and countless of injuries, do you still think it’s right to compare the two?

    • Gangsta

      March 25, 2023 at 9:11 pm

      @Mr.Bopper like what challenges?

    • Robert Arthur White III

      March 26, 2023 at 12:32 am

@Gangsta Look some up shitTok challenges that have killed/injured someone. It doesn’t have a good record on challenges. Lots of people have died in stupid ways rather than living their life to the fullest potential.

    • Jiffy B. Klux

      March 26, 2023 at 4:39 am

@Gangsta attention span of 5 seconds 🤣🤣🤣 theres a challenge

    • Mr.Bopper

      March 26, 2023 at 6:29 am

@Gangsta for example, the skullbreaker challenge, the Benadryl challenge and a new one too, BORG

    • GodVonOrim

      March 26, 2023 at 9:46 am

@Mr.Bopper It’s not true, before TikTok these stupid challenges were on Facebook, when TikTok is banned this will continue to be repeated on the social network that takes the popularity that TikTok occupies today.

    • Janni Gulde Iversen

      March 26, 2023 at 10:14 am

      TikTok vs other social media

On the topic of dangers to attentions spans, that’s the effect of shorter content formats.

On the models for moderation or lack of same and opennes about moderation or lack of same – similar issues as several other social media platforms.

On dangerous trends and challenges – similar issues as has existed on other platforms and corners of the internet.

On data collection and security – similar issues as other social media platforms and apps.

On hosting problematic content or problematic algoritm serving – similar issues as the dark pasts of other social media platforms.

  45. Alpha Delta Romeo

    March 25, 2023 at 12:10 pm

8 year olds with smartphones are watching this TikTok garbage
Unsupervised on their school bus rides to and from school each day. Obviously this is far more concerning that influence of 35 yr old voters

    March 25, 2023 at 6:33 pm

I did some brain storming right..

It seems like the creators of TikTok are like the “good guys” and they are trying to “wake us up” from the Matrix.

TikTok = The Rooster that “wakes” you up
    (From the matrix and lies)

    Or

TikTok = Time is running up..
    Tick…Tack…Tick…Tack…
(This is actually whay google also says)

    TikTok’s old name was Douyin.
Even the TikTok logo is still based on their old company name called Douyin. The letter D is in the logo of the current TikTok logo.

Douyin, (抖音, literally “shaking sound” in Chinese)

  50. Luke Sorensen

    March 25, 2023 at 6:49 pm

As if this was never a concern for years! The real question should be, why did they wait this long?
India banned it real quick. Did we not all know why?
    So f***ing dumb

  51. Kitten whispers

    March 25, 2023 at 8:51 pm

Why is tiktok on the chopping block but other social media sites aren’t? They all sway opinions and store data.
