It’s very clear almost all government agencies/business are corrupt and are more willing to build bunkers/try to go to mars instead of addressing climate change. Big oil has been alternating the scientific data for decades(they knew it would get bad), Elon musk makes cars to “help” climate change but is building rockets that destroy our ozone layer, our top soil is being destroyed from over use of pesticides, stores lie and sell invasive plants, forever chemicals and microplastics are in everything, insect populations have decreased by 40% in the last 40 years, 90% of large fish are gone, we literally have less clouds in the sky, a climate change denier won a Nobel prize last year, HOAs control 30% of housing/30% of people rent in the us and both don’t allow sustainable development, planned obsolescence in manufacturing is destroying the planet, only 9% of plastic is recycled/most plastic can’t be recycled, climate change is already hurting crops and causing climate change refugees. Our species forgets we are just animals and think we can survive anything but we are literally in the 6th mass extinction.

Hope is and still need to be here… I just can’t bare the feeling and thought when my future kid will ask me “dad, why all this so deeply rare and amazing life that took millions of years to evolve and may not exist anywhere else in the whole universe will be destroyed?” and I will have to say because that it’s because we were humans just blinded by greed and power is just so much and immensely indescribable pain in my heart…
😥.” but you knew in advance, why you haven’t done anything… ” it’s just too hard..

I just can’t bare that despite our intelligence we are the species that is the most stupid of all and will finish all that marvelous beauty of all…

I don’t want to loose hope but really wish no one will have to go through that.

We have so much potential but all is so ruined by this awful system of money pupetting our flaws into pure darkness with the awful irony of predictive awareness knowledge without proper action capacity…

Barreling toward us as we’re standing on railroad tracks is a runaway train. Many of us, maybe even most people, refuse to acknowledge what we are about to experience. The runaway climate train will extinguish civilization sooner than even the experts have predicted. Big business and big government refuse to give up profits. We don’t have the will to do even the simplest changes in our capitalist systems. We did it to ourselves. We’re toast.

What if just one of those sixteen tiping points was tipped? By definition wouldn’t that mean that the climate system enters a new and unrecoverable state which in turn means that the remaining fifteen tipping points would trigger sequentially anyway? Doesnt this mean we are cruising through oblivion right now?

Imagine if you didn’t know anything about the media and the bombardment with climate change. Say you live on an island. Would you notice any difference with the weather. When I was small we had wet summers, hot summers and everything was fine, the towns near me often flooded in winter. Now we have wet summers and hot summers and the whole world is ending, the town dont flood anymore becausewe built flood defenses. The ice caps are still there, they aren’t going anywhere. The biggest problem affecting farming is politicians and crazy policies not the weather.

Interesting program with hopeful content. I want more than social media initiatives. We can use social media to combat climate change. Global Conferences where quality of life is directly addressed. Rich people have money and love to spend on progress. Government has money and loves to spend on progress. Activate the mind and utilize the body of available materials. Spend money in living life different. Create new economic standards to stimulate masse spending trend. If people do not gather nu wisdom, which they do; then people should gather in fear of climate failure. Which we do. Spend, spend and don’t stop until the new economy and the new motivation of Decree manifest. Spend on the manifestation of survival.

If we really want to help the planet, one of the biggest things we can do is bury depleted uranium back in the ground that it came from.

Depleted uranium can only be stored in depleted uranium, and it leaks into the soil and water tables and hurts humanity, animals, and the earth for very long periods of time.

It needs to be buried back in the ground that it came from, that is usually areas of desert with little to no life.

The future is headed towards nuclear power, but we all need to be aware of the dangers of burying depleted uranium in populated areas, areas with wildlife or plant life, or areas near water tables.

Commissioner plan for Terraforming Conferences. Evacuate Big Cities. Prior to mass evacuations, change all and it most tourist destination. New Age Tourist Destination for a climate which works. The tipping point and the tipping point and finally; the last tipping point. We have skills to become Steward and new tools to be responsible for our birthright and given duties. Unity. A global labor union which recruits everybody, everywhere and educates, employs and it is all based on global tourism, world wide entertainment and education and a singular Method to evade and avoid the final point of tip over emergency.

Most of the people on earth are the ordinary folks whose lives don’t revolve around thinking about in what kind of world their grandchildren will be living, rather what can be done to put food on the table. But I’m sure what is generating most of the heat and carbon emissions are those who prioritise technological and economic advancements. Those are the driving forces that need huge amounts of energy resources. Of course, high population should partly take the blame for it, as these advancements are designed for the people and by the people.

The number 1 issue is that there are too many humans – but they only cause pollution, not the climate change. Climate change is not caused by humans; it’s the Gaian cycle.

It’s pretty rich trying to predict the future years and decades away from now I mean at least meteorologist I’m not so Brazen has to go beyond a few days. The future is seldom what people expect. Like in the 70s they thought we were going to be entering an ice age…. If you want to predict the future that’s fine but we shouldn’t be making such huge economic decisions that can make people more impoverished or over something that just a guess because newsflash we don’t know everything! Also stop calling it the climate crisis when many think it’s just exaggeration and I tend to agree. We don’t need climate hysteria; we need climate practicality

A recent youGov poll of UK citizens put climate change at no 9 of the top 10 issues they were concerned about. I guess that that is probably pretty common across Westernised countries.. You know the ones who have consumed the most over the last 100 odd years and thus emit the most and who are therefore least likely to change their ways until it’s too feckin late. Some, I’d say the majority of, people are incapable of seeing or understanding anything until it impacts them directly.. They can’t put themselves in other people’s shoes so world disasters just sail on by.. For others, and again a large fraction I would assume, climate science is just way too big an issue and way to complex. Bunter said during the Covid enquiry that he struggled to understand simple 2D graphs.. I rest my case. The thing is though that those of us who do understand just can not figure out how we get out of this mess.. No feckin idea.

    August 19, 2024 at 5:53 pm

The described temperatures will most likely be exceeded. But what is that nonsense about catastrophic outcomes? We are over 10 ° C away from non-ice-age normal average temperatures. Habitable zones will shift and grow. Anthropogenic acceleration will continue, there is no consensus to stop it, at least not including the relevant emitting countries. And the natural climate change we have anyway no realistic option to stop, not even all mechanisms are understood.

It’s high time to stop telling people climate could be “frozen” in a randomly selected state, and start investigating the specific local effects more, to prepare for the inevitable. If we would go into an ice age, habitable zones would shrink and earth would accommodate less human and other life. Let’s be glad that’s not the problem we face, warm is more manageable than being buried under a couple km of ice.

The speaker points out that Green Energy is cheaper than our traditional forms of energy. I don’t believe that but even if it were true there is no possibility of generating the amount of electricity required for an all electric vehicle fleet along with the myriad of other electric machines we are currently using. There is no way to operate an AI data center using Green Energy. There is no way we know of to fly a jumbo jet without fossil fuels. No way to run a freight train without fossil fuels. The list goes on and on. Not eating meat, putting solar panels on your house and driving an electric car will not change the trajectory he outlines, if it is true. He sounds like he knows what he is talking about but I have heard many scientists with contrary views.

Can confirm the carbon sink vs sponge issue. In temperate regions, you can literally feel the difference, because the carbon sponge land feels less humid most of the time than it’s surroundings. Carbon sucks up moisture & there is less carbon escaping, so its generally much less humid than usual.

Total scam. You can’t have a scientific discussion without discussing the impact of cosmic radiation, clouds & the Milankovitch cycles. Scientists received their funding from the government and the government tells the scientists what their results should be in order to receive more funding. If man made activities are forestalling the next ice age , then that is a good result. Hockey stick bullshit.

    how keep cool?
less stuff = less heat as things absorb heat!

misting cooling fans ex. outdoor ones

    BATHROOM FAN:
It was so noisy with and was so noisy with the fan.
The mobile fan in the air conditioning running.
And I didn’t realize I had left the bathroom fan on
So when I woke up, the house was so much cooler. Now this bathroom fan is.
Directly in front of the garage door in the garage door from the dog scratching as a the padding has been scratched off the door
    Near the dog height.
So an acting as pulling air.
In while sucking air out causing air conditioning effect. Really cool and it works really works.
Energy Efficiency: Running the fan intermittently (e.g., 20 minutes every hour) minimizes energy consumption compared to continuous operation while still providing some level of ventilation.

    LEAVE GARAGE OPEN

PUT A FAN ON THE WINDOW TO SUK OUT HOT AIR WHILE LEAVING A WINDOW ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF HOME OPEN to draw in outside air SO 2 WINDOWS OPEN!
singapore ENTIRE CITY flows w water; concrete heat so GREEN=cool
SWAMP COOLER TOWER FAN: desert building windtowers draws in wind cools down below w water circulates bk up
keep ac temp under the outside temp within 2-3 bc strongest flow is cooling effect even if temp rises
    Heat Accumulation:
If you turn off the AC during the day, your home will accumulate heat. However, homes have a limit to how much heat they can store before reaching equilibrium with outdoor temperatures. This means that even after several hours of being off, you may not need to remove as much heat as expected when you turn it back on.

PUT BOWLS of water in house. open windows on sides of home 2 create cross-stream

Look around, the war drums are getting louder, more and more people deny what is required or lose faith in science. They rather vote for Trump or other dictators that laugh about Climate science. You can learn about the other side of the argument, the one the media doesn’t want you to know about. (Fear-mongering sells; why else would there be so many horror movies?) Read Steven Koonin’s book “Unsettled”, with tons of cites. Once you know that the self-proclaimed infallible experts aren’t infallible, you may be able to climb out of the pit.

“There are huge non climate effects of carbon dioxide which are overwhelmingly favorable which are not taken into account. To me that’s the main issue that the earth is actually growing greener. This has been actually measured from satellites the whole earth is growing greener as a result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So it’s increasing agricultural yields, it’s increasing the forests, it’s increasing all kinds of growth in the biological world and that’s more important and more certain than the effects on climate.” ~Freeman Dyson, Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

  106. @ClearMystic

    August 21, 2024 at 11:39 am

No one with any understanding of science believes climate change is unsolvable.
It’s HOW we get there socially/politically and what we need to change/give up along the way. Perhaps most, how to do it within the constraints of this socio-technical system of free market economy and a popularity-driven political system that is also pro free market/unlimited GDP growth to the point where it doesn’t want to regulate anything.

The actors that hold the power in our current system don’t want to bring the systemic changes because they fear they will lose their power, that is what Caroll Quickley in his book “The evolution of civilizations” mentions about the main cause of societal collapse:
“Elites can be particularly at risk of blocking change and preserving obsolete structures due to their privileged position in society. Elites can also become corrupt and more concerned with preserving their power and wealth than serving the public interest.”

No financial institution is for degrowth and low material consumption. Governement neither since they based their revenue base on economic activity (GDP). Few medias promote ideas that would get rid of their advertising revenues. A lot of citizens have been bombarded their entire life with ads, movies, education about social norms and success icons of more consumption = social status = happiness. Hard to get political majorities if that is still the value structure of a significant part of the population.

Why i fight for it? All the beauty there is to save.
Friedrich Nietzsche said “I know of no better life purpose than to perish attempting the great and impossible. The fact that something seems impossible should not be a reason to not pursue it. That’s exactly what makes it worth pursuing. Where would the courage and greatness be if success was certain and there was no risk. The only true failure is shrinking away from life’s challenges.”

Technological progress is what will save the earth, drinking out of a paper straw, crippling our energy independence, and forcing carbon emission mandates down everyone’s throats is what will lead to the planets demise. The left bites the hand that feeds, and they make business harder for hard working Americans and people who would have long term solutions to this problem. If uou want people to care about the climate, solve the more important issues first: poverty, starvation, a collapsing economy. When my wife first suggested that dark matter might be causing global warming I laughed
.Dark matter after all should be a constant, I thought. When we began looking at the data I stopped laughing. Dark matter it seems is not a constant.
Global Warming is happening but dark matter is the chicken and Co2 is the egg.
Dark matter phase transitions appear to be a primary internal heater of the planets. If the solar system passes through an area of higher liquid dark matter content the planets cores would all receive more heat due to increased phase transitions thus heating the earth from the inside out. That means if we redirect part of the dark matter circulation of Venus or Earth to Mars we could warm it up. Mars also passes through streams of dark matter headed to every planet capturing slightly more of these would also help. These streams may be more like intermittent clouds going by on a windy day by the time they reach Mars orbit.
Heating of the planet from the inside out would result in :
    Increased ground temperatures
    Increased sea temperatures
    Increased nighttime temperatures
    Increased volcanic activity
    Increased earthquakes

We are currently passing through the S1 dark Matter stream which, as it is going the opposite direction around the galaxy was described as a dark matter hurricane. From spring to fall the earth is downstream from the sun. And from July to December the earth is traveling with the S1 stream and from January to June we get our maximum ongoing dark matter exposure as we travel into the S1stream. It would be interesting to see if the upper atmosphere temperatures are lower in the spring than the fall due to more incoming dark matter. There have also been peer reviewed papers that discuss dark matter annihilation(or in my hypothesis phase transition)heating the earth from the inside, they did not mention any impact to climate change or the S1 dark matter stream.

We may also be subject to surges of dark matter which mean heat at the surface and cool in the upper atmosphere just before.
June-July 2020 Earth Mercury Venus Mars Jupiter Saturn conjunctions. This means that the earth passed through several consecutive dark matter streams
July 2020 Siberian heatwave and Antarctica temperature spike
Jan 9 2022 Venus Earth conjunction this resulted in an increase in the amount of dark matter leaving the sun and Venus
March 18 2022 Concordia Station spiked 39 C degrees due to unusual air patterns near Australia
North Pole regions hit 30C above normal
May 2022 mars crosses the dark matter stream to Saturn
May 4, 2022 a 4.7 magnitude Marsquake occurs due to tectonic activity.
March 26 2024 the Parker Solar Probe began its lap around the sun on April 4 it came out on the other side of the sun to start back towards Venus. In between it was actually inside of the Alfven Limit which is where I believe the surface of the dark matter sphere that surrounds the sun lies. This would be the equivalent of a speed boat sending a wake towards the earth.
April 11 mercury and earth are in an inferior conjunction which would also send a bit of extra dark matter in earths direction.
Mid June 2024 multiple heat waves.

Venus atmospheric temperatures from 2009-2017 also were higher after conjunctions and the atmospheric wind speeds have increased by 33% probably due to the increase in incoming dark matter.
Venus atmospheric temperatures from 2009-2017 also were higher after conjunctions
    Venus atmospheric tsunami
If the dark matter spin off to the sun happens every 5 days on average and coincides with the wave facing the sun it may be proof of dark matter. During conjunctions if the tsunami is facing earth we get an extra surge of dark matter heading to the earth which also affects the time it takes for the tsunami to circle Venus. The gravity well fills up and dumps back to the sun but if it fills faster due to a conjunction it can spill toward the earth resulting in higher temperatures about 60 days later. The streams of liquid dark matter are constantly overflowing the suns dark matter sphere which extends to the Alfven radius. This distance varies dependant on how much dark matter reaches the point at which it vaporizes. (Velocity/gravity/temperature)
NASA issued a climate change warning for Mars after Mariner 9
Neptune has been heating up since 2018

Today on Equity, Kirsten Korosec is joined by J.P. Morgan’s Head of Startup Banking, Ashraf Hebela. Following the recent release of J.P. Morgan’s Startup Insights report, Kirsten wanted to dive into what it really takes to build a unicorn in 2024, and what parts of the startup ecosystem are seeing success beyond AI and Silicon Valley.

The pair discussed the changing landscape, from new startup hubs popping up in Seattle, Austin, and Miami to the resilience and passion required to thrive. Hebela also talked about the decreasing rate of unicorn creation since 2021 and what founders need to keep in mind today – including how ‘Founder Mode’ may do more harm than good.

Equity is a show about the business of startups, where we unpack the numbers and nuance behind the headlines. New episodes drop at 7 a.m. PT every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
