Making a video about a noise cancelling stereo headset and recording it all with such a terrible noise in the background.
Thank you for giving me migraine

My XM3s are still working perfectly 2 years in so I think I’ll stick with them for now. Definitely sticking with these line of headphones for future upgrades though, unless someone comes up with something markedly better, which will be hard to do.

Same ANC chip. Kind of disappointing if you still have an XM3.

I hate the fact that sony didn’t change the copper logo to maybe gold color to differentiate old model with new model.. They should learn with apple when midnight green is exclusively for iphone 11 pro only..

If your going to do a presentation outside get special mic to filter out noise or just do it inside

“Is the sound as good as Bose’s? No”

Automatically lost me there, next time get someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.

Objectively speaking the Bose’s frequency response is closer to the neutral Harman Target curve whereas the Sony’s have exaggerated bass which some people (like you I imagine) prefer.

  17. ultramet

    August 6, 2020 at 11:35 pm

Did they fix the Bluetooth switching yet? The XM3 was a disappointment in that regard.

  18. Estefano Machado

    August 6, 2020 at 11:55 pm

I literally got my WH-1000XM3s two days ago, I’m loving them, but come on hehe… At least I’m relieved that “it’s not worth upgrading”, because I got my M3s here in Peru at a very sweet price, and the M4s will probably take a while in arriving, let alone be as cheap as I got the M3s.

The lack of simultaneous multipoint and LDAC is problematic. I’ll just stick with my B&W PX7.

  28. We're All Thieves

They should have improved the call quality

  29. Khalid al hakeem

  30. Eric Jeanneret

Looooove my XM3’s. Don’t see the need to upgrade. But if you’re in the market, this Sony line is strong.

    Good review.

  31. Ismael Benouja

    August 7, 2020 at 6:11 pm

Watching this with my mark3, and I can garantee you its not worth the upgrade. Better buy the mark 3 for cheaper. Its litteraly the same headphone. Unless you want to pair your headphone to two devices at thr same time. But I never had the need to do it. So my advice is stick to mark 3 or buy the mark 3 model

  32. JROD

    August 7, 2020 at 6:30 pm

Just goes to show that the XM3’s were so good that sony couldn’t make many upgrades.

  33. Nathan Kim

    August 7, 2020 at 6:42 pm

Do not say transparency mode that’s not a widely used or called feature. It’s a feature from airpods pro.

I’m not getting these im stick8ng with my xm3’s basically the same 👈🏾🤔🤔🤔

  38. Timproducer

    August 7, 2020 at 7:22 pm

I wish they could improve the sound quality since it is the XM4, and now there’s no aptx support so windows 10 will use the sbc codec which is even worse now.

  39. B R

    August 7, 2020 at 7:54 pm

I’ve bought and compared two XM4s and found two major flaws sound wise, so I have to return them; the ANC does not suppress all AC/Subway/Human noises in the environment and sometimes produces an annoying white noise. Also the soundstage is very narrow and the overall sound experience is very narrow and bass focused. You cannot get it to sound decent, equalizer makes it a bit better but does not clear the muddiness of the sound. Pros; microphone quality is superior compared to the XM3. In terms of sound quality the Bose 700 is superior but they suffer from buggy software and firmware.. Source: Audio engineer and Music producer with 12 years experience.

    Love my xm3s….xm4s not a dramatic upgrade…..nice but worth another 350 USD?… I’ll wait for the xm6’s………

  43. J MED

    August 7, 2020 at 9:33 pm

The thing that pisses me off the most is that people will still buy beats. Even the xm2’s are better than beats.

  44. Alex Salazar

    August 7, 2020 at 10:15 pm

Watching this and I still like my M2s just fine. That’s the thing. They are that good. You don’t need to upgrade often like other products.

Can you make adjustments in the app on your phone while the playing source is eg your laptop?

  48. sereneturmoil

    August 8, 2020 at 12:05 am

I almost pulled the trigger recently on the XM3 as an upgrade to my XM2 and am glad I didn’t now that these will be available tomorrow. However, at $499 CDN, when I only paid $350 CDN for the XM2, I’m just not sure I can justify the cost. Yet.

  49. Heanly

    August 8, 2020 at 12:18 am

so they didnt fix the thin plastic that gets stressed when worn by someone with a bigger head which breaks eventually even after normal use. I’m looking forward to seeing how many people would suffer from the same poor headband integrity / design in the upcoming months.

  50. Raiken333

    August 8, 2020 at 12:22 am

If the noise canceling is just an algorithm fix then Sony could easily fix the MX3’s with a firmware update. But they probably won’t because of planned obsolescence.

  51. Vãi Hào

    August 8, 2020 at 12:23 pm

When I get a call from Messenger, my Sony WH-1000XM3 always logout by itself, so I need to pair with my phone again to receive the call. Do you guys have the same issue with your Sony WH-1000XM3 ? I wonder if the Sony WH=1000XM4 have this issue fixed? Anyone knows about that?

  52. David Bell

    August 8, 2020 at 12:25 pm

it seems like most of these 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 could be soft ones that would work on the M3’s

  53. Daniel Elzeisa

    August 8, 2020 at 2:09 pm

Same cpu chip and shaved off some leather. Outside of the auto pause it looks like Sony shaved off some production dollars. I’ll stick with my XM3.

  59. Inazarab

    August 8, 2020 at 2:41 pm

Bose is going to have to do something to compete. I love my QC25s but they’re almost 8 years old now. I’ve been waiting for Bose to up there game but they haven’t, and I’m not interested in the 700’s or 35s. The 35s are the same as the 25s but wireless and the 700s are overpriced and uncomfortable. If Bose doesn’t make a true successor to the QC25/35s I may switch over to Sony.

Can it do EQ with APTX/LDAC/AAC now?

    • David Carnoy

      August 8, 2020 at 5:07 pm

No AptX with M4 for some reason.

    • L3ON

      August 8, 2020 at 6:05 pm

@David Carnoy that’s OK since LDAC is better. The limitation the M3 had was no EQ or sound stage options with LDAC, only SBC on Android. I wonder if that’s still a thing.

    • David Carnoy

      August 8, 2020 at 7:42 pm

L3ON I have a Walkman that can do LDAC back in the office in NYC but can’t get into the office so I’ll have to wait to test it.

  71. SYFICO •

Like I will literally use the cream of the crop (XM3s) to study, INDOORS. Do anyone think the XM4s will be worth the $100 bigger price tag, or should I go for a pair of XM3 for $249? I just wanna block out everything.

  77. Shahar Rosner

    August 9, 2020 at 5:48 am

Very unprofessional not to mention that Sony removed aptx and aptxhd from the XM4. This is a big omissions and I would definitely pass on these.

Sony needs to make their 1000XM range headphones compatible with the PS4 (and upcoming PS5) over bluetooth🙏🏼
