I think iPhone 11 or iPhone XR will be recycled for the next SE
Very low chances of the mini iPhones becoming the next SE. An entry level iPhone getting a small LED display and latest chipset is just too much to give when it comes to Apple! If the SE comes in 2023 there is no chance of it being a mini iPhone body! It will just dip the already dipped price of 13 mini further making it a more attractive VFM proposition! Yes if the SE gets a 2024 launch, the 13 mini, by that time will already be 3 years older to the new SE which will have a newer chipset. So in that case there is a 50% chance of it possessing a mini iPhone body rather than a XR or 11.
Deep down I just want Apple to surprise everyone with something unexpected like they did for the iPad mini 2021

I don’t know what Apple’s going to do, but what I’d LOVE is an iPhone 14 Mini Pro. That would be the perfect phone.

Apple will just use the Xr or 11 for the next SE model. For people who currently have the 6s, 7, 8 or 2020 SE and want a mini, Apple will keep selling the 13 mini until at least September 2023 or possibly until sometime in 2024. It’s a very capable phone that probably will get updates as long as the current A15 iPhone 14.

i think they will make an SE that has the same dimensions of the iphone 13 mini but maybe gets rid of a camera on the back, has no face id, a 720p screen, and a touch id power button

I have the 12 pro max for myself and the 12 mini for my wife, who has always loved having a smaller phone. There are many times when I think to myself…man, I wish I had the mini for myself. It’s so much more pocketable. Hers last several days on a charge because she only uses it….wait for it….as a phone, lol.

  11. bmmomin

    September 30, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Would not mind if Apple made iPhone Mini thicker to flush with the back with camera lenses while giving it a much needed longer battery life. It would be still compact and practical.

The 13 mini costs $600 rn.
Next year it will be $500 and a much much better value than the SE with the full screen, OLED, 5G (mm wave), better battery, Face ID, smaller form factor than even the SE and a starting memory of 128 GB.
SE starts at 64 GB while the 128 Gb costs $480. With just a $20 difference, we can all agree that the 13 Mini would be a much better buy.
And the year after that? The Mini starting at $400 or 430 or even 450, it is actually going to be the natural replacement for SE!
If Apple continues to sell it instead of slating it, it could get very interesting from next year onwards. I hope it stays in the line up.
And if Apple reads this please give it’s replacement ProMotion and do not change the size!

  16. George W

    September 30, 2022 at 10:32 pm

I would keep my iPhone 13 Mini which is a huge COMFORT UPGRADE from my iPhon12 Pro for as long as possible unite Apple makes an iPhone Mini Pro! Yes, I still have the 5s and wish daily Apple would build a Pro model at its size; however, large screen social media lovers who uses blackhole purses like my wife and my mother in law is making it impossible!!!🤣🤣🤣 She does likes my iPhone 12 Pro though!

  17. Manish Bahuva

    September 30, 2022 at 10:44 pm

This can be a possibility if the mini sales increase. I wouldn’t mind if they increase it’s thickness around 20% to incorporate big battery capacity.

  18. Johari Jaafar

    September 30, 2022 at 11:21 pm

It would be awesome if the next SE is based on the 13 Mini. Please do it Apple..

I believe the next SE is going to be the iPhone XR! That theory seems more realistic.

  25. Leweise

    October 1, 2022 at 1:28 am

The fact that the basic 14 line of iPhones are still using last years processor all they needed to do was just rename the 13 mini to 14 mini & done & everyone would have complained but they would have still bought it

  26. Curt Ott

    October 1, 2022 at 7:21 am

I hope your correct, it would make sense, I’m buying a mini iPhone 13 this year, because it’s pocket friendly & yet everything most big iphones have.

  27. Ronnie Westmoreland

    October 1, 2022 at 7:43 am

I personally think the mini would be too outdated for 2023/24. Mainly because it limits your battery size as well as gives you a physically smaller screen. I had the 13 mini and while I loved the weight and how easy it was to put in my pocket, the screen is just too small. If Apple can give us an SE with the body of a XR, the a16 chip, an ultra wide camera, OLED screen and a bigger battery for the same $429 to $449 price, I’d say it would be the perfect budget iPhone.

  28. Michael Boys

    October 1, 2022 at 7:58 am

This is a good theory, however, I do not see Apple putting face ID into a cheaper model SE.

  30. Dharma Wilson

I like the compact and power of the mini13. Camera lenses allow a creative range… enjoyable! Finding a need for more security… wish Apple would invent a compromise notice/alarm that coincides with face recognition and camera security to alert you that a stranger is in your iPhone 🤔

  32. Dan

    October 1, 2022 at 10:34 am

I think what’ll determine whether the mini’s body becomes the next SE is whether Apple thinks they’ll make more money selling that, or by upgrading the SE to the Xr’s body, which may be cheaper with the more basic LCD panel, and have more mass market appeal with the larger screen. Would love if it was the mini though

This is the only logical move . It will be the X body. Too many people want an iPhone X/SE in developing nations especially . Android still dominates in a lot of places but the X with a new cheap for $299 would be a massive hit in a lot of countries if not the US.

I have the 12 mini I had it since release day November 13, 2020. I’ve enjoyed it the whole time. The size is great even if the battery life isn’t to long it charges fast so there’s not a real long wait to use it again. I plan on getting the 13 mini soon it’s $100 less then last year and that’s awesome. The form factor and the pocket ability is great i almost forgot that it’s in my pocket because it’s so lite weight. Everyone wants the bigger and better phones but somewhere we forgot what it was like to use a phone with one hand, I’d say to each there own but me coming from bigger phones it was a nice change from the way I use phones.

  36. Humans Being

I was thinking they should release one every ‘tok’ generation when the processor is more efficient. An SE model Mini is along the same line of thinking.

I think that next “SE,” will be the XS with Oled display , same camera , and upgraded chip .. not the mini . Maybe they will have an SE or SE Plus . Too many people want a larger screen now . I barely see 13’s in the wild

  42. HALWG51

    October 1, 2022 at 5:21 pm

The only reason a lot of people buy the SE is for the price. So it has to be around $400 – $450 or it won’t sell. I really think size is secondary.

I fall into the category of small phones. I’m currently using my 13 mini and have no plans of upgrading anytime soon. I hope apple would be smart enough to bring back a small phone that has PRO features. That would be the sale for iPhone ages and wonders for small device users

  51. Arkane117

    October 2, 2022 at 2:39 am

I have the iPhone 12 Mini. One thing not many people don’t mention is the light weight of it. It’s light enough that I can just keep it in my gym shorts, and play basketball in it and don’t feel it much. I had the iPhone 10x before that and although I was still able to play basketball with it, I did feel the weight of it and moving around.

  52. Eric Anderson

    October 2, 2022 at 3:24 am

13 mini fam ftw. It made 0 sense to create a 14 mini, 14 uses the exact same chip as the 13 AND takes away the SIM card (yknow for spy stuff), so some minor camera improvements isn’t worth it for the formfactor focused consumer. I picked up 13 mini because the base model had double the 12 minis (128gb) at essentially the same price, and significant camera improvement. Idc if the next mini coming in the 17 series, Can’t wait to ride this baby into the ground !

Nobody wants an ipad in their pocket. Bring back the mini. Im not going to upgrade from the 13 mini until they come out with another mini. It’s literally the best phone out there. Get rid of the notch and it’s literally perfect, you literally cannot make it any better on the outside after that.

  55. michael piersce

    October 2, 2022 at 5:06 am

Imagine if Iphone made an iphone 14 OSSE (Old School Special edition). They used the iphone 13 mini body, put in AUX, got rid of the notch somehow, and gave it the same 3 cameras as the pro version. Dude, that phone would be OP. I swear android users would probably switch to apple if they made that phone lmao that would be SICKK!1!

We all want an SE in a mini 13 body. The 4.7 lcd displays just aren’t good enough by today’s standards. I’m on board!

  57. luedriver

    October 2, 2022 at 7:21 am

outdated or not, I wish apple never stops making the iphone 7 8 se phone, “physical” home button and the lack of a notch is what some people will want even in 2025

in another wishful thinking, the headphone jack could come back since phones have never been thicker

  58. Alternate Reality

    October 2, 2022 at 10:25 am

Just picked up a refurbished 12 mini and really enjoying it. Form factor is just right to be used single handed; cameras and performance is nothing to worry about. It’s a keeper and a solid upgrade from 7+.

  59. Matthew Dodski

    October 2, 2022 at 2:22 pm

I really would like to see the 13 mini become the new SE! An iPhone that comfortably fits in your pocket, one handed use, all day battery, updated internals/ camera, maybe stainless bands instead of aluminum

  60. SuperZero!

    October 2, 2022 at 3:02 pm

I love the discrete nature of the 13 Mini. If I really want to engrossed myself with content, I use an iPad Pro, though the Mini is quite capable. I would love to see a pro version with Dynamic Island and a TB capacity…

Everytime i have a 13 pro or Max in my hands, i envy the 120hz but besides that it really feels bulky and clumsy to have such big phones.
