The whole discussion is off the mark. It’s not that we have or not have the option to “pace”, or slowdown, the AI development. The very fact that those CEOs even brought up the “slowing down” of AI development showed that these AI companies have all but ran out of hope of “keeping the U.S. lead” in AI. The Chinese AI is catching up fast, the world is adopting Chinese AI faster than anybody can imaging, the U.S. AI has run out of money, couldn’t maintain premium prices for their products, electricity needs are out of reach for their “brute force”, inefficient models, and American people are smart enough to make a simple judgement that unless people want to significantly cut their electricity and water usage, the AI built out will exhaust itself, soon. President Trump just called out these CEOs bluff!
