I’ve had squiggly careers and it’s helped me remain employed through every economic downturn. To get a job, I was able to shift to another track if needed, and my wider set of skills and experience made me more attractive to keep on while they laid others off. They knew I could do various kinds of work and didn’t have an ego attachment to a title that would limit my work ethic. I also had more fun exploring what I wanted out of work.
