The TeslaBot will be a total failure – my prediction for what it’s worth.
I expected a revolutionary robot to razzle dazzle the audience.
Instead, we got a 1980’s robot full of wires, servos, and a human-looking bot.

Really Elon, that’s the revolutionary bot that will take over the world?
    Ha ha ha ha

I expected to see revolutionary synthetic muscles driven by millivolts and a small battery powering it for a week.
We saw something that will take 100 watts to move and a cycle time of 6 hours before it needs 3 hours of charging.

    Total disappointment.

Why humanoid? I get the arms and hands but for factory and warehouse work, wheels are better. Legs are good for all-terrain action. If the forefront goal in your mind is replacing organic human bodies, then I get the yearning to develop the humanoid design. It probably is a good design for a robot that works in the home or an office environment since it can share the use of the same chairs, desks and appliances that already exist for the humans.

  24. Puma Fist

    October 2, 2022 at 1:22 am

Making a robot for ordinary tasks that is shaped like a human is stupid. It’s a bad design when you could have wheels or treads for locomotion. Trying to mimic human legs is impractical and a waste of effort. Also being limited to two arms is dumb. So is trying to simulate fingers. Just another grift from good ol Musk to dupe idiots out of their money on something that will never come to fruition.

D teir robot. If it actually stays at 20000 and gets a lot better it could replace unskilled labor but right now it’s pretty unimpressive.

  33. GoodGuyDom11

    October 2, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Tbh, the Atlas robot from Boston Dynamics seems far more impressive movement wise. The tech for environment recognition is probably not as complex as the tesla bot however, but if they could somehow perfect the mobility to the point of rivaling Boston Dynamics robots, this could probably turn out really nice, but 20k? I don’t see that happening tbh.

  34. Mac's Back..

Rather than making cars & buses fully automated and driverless.. why not just replace the driver with an Optimus robot, that could answer passenger enquiries regarding timetables and traffic issues.

  51. Harley Earl

    October 3, 2022 at 4:51 pm

At least it can walk and has hands. Can Tesla team up with Boston Dynamics, along with the Japanese humanoid robot makers?
If the best ideas from these different groups were combined, it could produce the best humanoid robot yet.

On its own, I don’t think the Tesla Bots will really achieve what everyone has been waiting for. I will say the same for the other parties, as well. They should all collaborate together.

We will see Musk. Hanson Robotics (mainly know for Sophia robot) also wanted do mass production of their robots and nothing comes from it so far. Same case Boston Dynamic. They have Spots for sales, but nothing like this for consumers or companies. But if it will be really around 20-40000 dollars and you can manufacture milions of these, it probably begin new era of robots everywhere, as cost will be going down by that mass production. But like 6 months or 1 year and something to go from zero to this, I am impressed. Can´t wait how advanced this robot will be in 5-10 years. Just hope economic and society will be ready for this
Yes, Boston Dynamic Atlas movement looking more impressive, but it never leaves the laboratory. It will be still experimental piece of technology. This seems Musk and Tesla want to be fully fledged consumer product/goods common thing
