Teebike is a new French startup that wants to make it easier to switch from a good old sweat-based bike to an electric bike. With Teebike, you don’t have to get rid of your existing bike and buy a new one. You just have to replace the front wheel. The device detects when you’re on the move and a small electric motor kicks in. As a bonus, you can also lock the front wheel and enable an anti-theft alarm with the smartphone app.

But it makes sense if you already have a much more expensive bike

Too expensive. You can already buy various electric front wheel conversions, at various voltage/wattage combinations. It doesn’t say how many volts, watts, battery specs, range. I bet the replacement battery is an expensive dedicated battery. If I want a front wheel with a motor, I’ll buy the components and put the system together, picking my own voltage and wattage.

Seems like a good entry level product but at 750 euros is 2 times more expensive than it should be.
Entry level bikes start at 350

Mainstream conversations are rear wheel for many reasons. Weight distribution mostly.
All that rotating weight on the steering means it’ll handle like shit.
No way this will succeed at this price.
    Give it up guys.

Can you put a cogset on the wheel and use it on the back too?

I won’t buy from them because they already have misled people. This IS NOT new technology. You have been able to buy wheels just like it and better for cheaper for at least 5 years.

    -_- quit calling it an engine… It’s a motor!

This is just a standard e bike conversion…

    • Mrblister

      March 1, 2020 at 2:03 pm

People that know about ebike conversions are laughing at this the imotor 3 conversion is half the price and with a bigger battery. Does this woman paint the flower design on herself. I am laughing my ass off why did YouTube recommend me this video.
And if people are so stupid to buy this. Is this a joke it’s only march not April 1

    • Jonathan Cervera

      March 1, 2020 at 3:05 pm

@Mrblister all she did was place an order from a Chinese company and I’m sure they had these covers laying around. She didn’t engineer anything and Techcrunch is a joke for recommending this. Bafang is the same price with an insane amount more power and battery.

    • Patrik Mattsson

      March 4, 2020 at 9:55 am

But how much support are you getting from said chinese company when something breaks down? It’s important to keep in mind that sometimes, we’re paying not just for the hardware but the surrounding services around the hardware as well and that can be a big thing. Not sure if this specific case make me want to use their services and pay the premium, but it’s still a very valid point to keep in mind

this device on the wheel is it possible to put the disc brake?

  26. METO U

    March 3, 2020 at 7:01 pm

$750 euros!!!!!! please tell me that it’s a joke…learned absolutely nothing about the bike like the voltage…batteries etc….that’s probably because if they do give you the motor info people will look up others and find the same thing for 200 or less…why would you make it so you have to use your phone for the boost function….why only have pedal assist motor controller and not a throttle also for full electric bike without pedaling…oh that’s right…then they would lose to much money by adding a $30 controller on the 750$ bike…u have to be a complete moron to buy this

If you watch Dragon’s Den, the moment all the dragons=customers are leaving, is when you say what price it will have. 750 euro.. Is way to much. Then i guess you will have a shipping price also on that. As other says, you have to cut the price in half.

    March 7, 2020 at 8:38 am

Perfect solution. Do you have any lock adapters to make sure no one can steal the wheel from the frame?

  31. IraQNid

    May 2, 2020 at 6:51 am

What do you do when the sun is so bright you can’t see the screen on your smartphone? Meaning you cannot control the Teebike hub motor? It should have dedicated physical controls.

I understand that this method only works in some frames. I had a carbon bike with the AstonRider kit and I switched it to a bamboo bike in 10 minutes and I didn’t have to cut any cables
