Amazon Glow. I recall when it came out childless lonely internet reviewers craped all over it. Too bad.

Great video! I’ve noticed that apps I’ve paid for on my iPhone will suddenly be useless because they’re no longer in the App Store. The concept of buying something is surely changing as tech evolves. 🙁

How about you just don’t move hundreds of miles away from your family? Then you wouldn’t need to worry about using technology to communicate with them. Oh yeah, jobs are more important than having an in person relationship with family.
    Merry Christmas! 🤦‍♂️

Let’s not forget Slingbox players which ended support at the end of November. All Slingbox connected units are effectively bricked since the Slingbox servers shut down. Loved my Slingbox so much it truly is a painful loss., And no, cable streaming can’t begin to compare.

*sniff* Twas the hope of your love that ended for me, this year, Bridget…Even as the days drew shorter and I fired up the wood stove for the first time of the season, I still held out hope that you’d come to your senses and head in my direction where I waited, open armed, to embrace you and feed you Orville Redenbacker’s white cheddar popcorn. But alas, I have finally accepted that I must wait for the love robots to achieve level Bridget 1.0, Replicant Edition, and hope that will be enough to fill my empty heart…

The iPod is not dead. The iPod just lives on as the iPhone. You can say the Apple Watch is an iPod Nano, because it is. Pair it with AirPods, and you got yourself an iPod.
The modern day smartphone isn’t used to solely make phone calls. Calling Apple’s smartphone “iPhone” with the name phone in it dates it a little bit. Because the phone functionality of the iPhone is just one feature. So the term “phone” has sort of lost its meaning, so calling a smartphone something more abstract might be more fitting. Sort of like referring to Samsung phones as Galaxys. Maybe the iPhone should be called iPod. It’s a nice abstract name. I mean, it wouldn’t have been an iconic product had it been called iMusic Player. Because overtime the iPod kept gaining a lot of functionality. So I imagine Apple’s rumored foldable device might be called something abstract like the iPad. Of all of the Apple product names, in my opinion, only the iPhone has a dated name, because a phone is a single use device. And the iPhone does way more than that since the iPhone 2G came out.
Though the Apple Watch is one exception, because it’s a wearable. But the name iTime would’ve not been great, as the Apple Watch does more than tell time. iWatch would’ve worked, but it would’ve been too techie as Jony Ive’s vision was to point Apple Watch into a fashion accessory, which has worked really well. I just found out people are obsessed with Apple Watch bands and its endless customization.
The same applies to the Apple brand itself. Apple used to be called Apple Computer, but after the iPhone, they were no longer just a computer company, so they changed it to just Apple or Apple Inc. The advantage of this abstract name is that they no longer limit themselves to just computers. The next product category Apple is set to explore is the car.

I was gifted a Smart R2D2 toy made by Hasbro in 2016. Oddly enough, it was the guys at Disney that gave it to me. I waited to open it a few months. Big mistake. Apparently just last month. Amazon also stopped supporting the Amazon Cloud Cams. These were very simple to set up and use. They gave out replacement Blink cameras, but they are not quite as simple to use. They time out frequently and only one person at a time can view the camera images. Cloud cams were older, but just a bit better than the Blink.

wow, the Glow wasn’t even on my radar… it’s a shame that they didn’t have a way for the device to exist on its own without its cloud servers… hopefully someone else takes the idea & improves on it where you can store games on the device itself (heaven knows it’s got room for it 😉 )

When it was announced that the Ipod was officially no more this year, I was & still am really sad about it. It revolutionized how we listen to & play music anywhere, anytime. This move (to discontinue Ipods) coupled with my very old PC’s that need replacing, mean that I will be moving to Macs in 2023 so I can still play my large Itunes library that continues to grow any time anywhere without having to have all of the music downloaded onto a phone (Not an Iphone user even) or played from the Cloud & a large portion on my library isn’t even the cloud because I originally added it to itunes & have it backed up in other ways but these original sources I no longer have access to. Thank Goodness for Bluetooth & wireless earbuds/headphones, otherwise I’d be hoppin’ mad that the Ipod is officially no more.

When my android phone got accidentally smushed. I went to WalMart and grabbed the cheapest burner Verizon phone that they had, just so that I wouldn’t be without a phone. I ended up with an “Orbic”. Worst piece of crap I ever owned. Every time you ever even TOUCH the pos, you need to enter a 4 digit security code. To make calls. To answer calls. I missed so many calls just trying to unlock the screen before the caller hung up. I was ready to pitch the phone in the trash, when, thankfully, I lost the phone at a casino. I checked with casino security for weeks, they insisted that nobody turned it in. Great- it’s someone else’s problem now. Also, I imagine that a lot of middle aged gents are discovering that a certain “personal pleasure feature” has stopped working as it should during the past 12 months. Sucks.
