I really want LG to get serious about the 97 oled if they would ever just stop adding stupid gimmicks like “wireless” box etc and get the price down to $15K ish I’d dump the projector and screen

OLEDs at that size are still expensive regardless, and most people won’t be able to buy it. Also, LG’s M3 97” OLED TV is said to transmit signals 3x faster than WiFi 6. Only time will tell how efficient it works in day to day use and in different situations. Moreover, scaling up the brightness on larger screened OLED displays has been challenging. Companies making positive progress in area, albeit limited, is still a great thing. Lastly, LG has been really competitive in the pricing sector, and as time goes on, we will continue to see those prices drop while also getting more.

So to get the full “Gaming” refresh rate of the step down TV they went 2160i instead of 2160p?
Also, a step down product of the same product line should have 100% of the same features and only be reduced in size and price. The fact that it is not also Mini-LED and is instead QLED means that is a completely separate product line.

I assumed they meant 1080P when they said they cut the vertical resolution in half for the 240Hz refresh rate.

    • webberfan1234

      January 6, 2023 at 10:43 pm

Maybe half that and I could swing it with some saving. Beside that, projector or UST projector is better off

    • PSYCHO

      January 6, 2023 at 11:14 pm

      @Tony Greco That’s still cheaper than the 2021 100-inch Sony X92J which costs $20,000. 😂😂😂

    • Phoenix

      January 7, 2023 at 5:37 am

that is the old model, the TCL 98″ CLASS XL COLLECTION 4K UHD QLED.
So that is not the price for the 2023 model.

I guess maybe I’m becoming so accustomed to big tvs that even that 98in tv behind him doesn’t look that big to me. Lol.

Anyways I hope that 98″ is great. Would love the new S95C from Samsung but 77″ max ugh

    • Kris Bright

I think the showcase floor makes them seem smaller as when you would have that in a real home, it would take up FAR more space than what it looks like in the video.
They often have like 30-40ft ceilings in show rooms and film like 20-30ft away from the devices as many other media and YouTubers are all trying to get footage at once. That makes the devices looks so much smaller than what they look like in person.

Plus the set pieces that the other TV’s are sitting on are deceptive on purpose to make them appear to be floating and often are 8ft tables with cloth or some other material draped over them.

  7. Icipher4

What does “relatively affordable” mean? If you mean $4k, sure, for a TCL I’d accept that.

@Brad that’s really funny if true.

    • WhereIsTheAccountability

      January 7, 2023 at 10:40 pm

@Icipher4 $8499 is the price for the current TCL 98 inch TV, not this 2023 model.

During Black Friday the current TCL 98 inch TV was going for 5k. I suspect this 2023 will be around 10k.

Considering the other TVs that size and projector cost that’s not bad now the question is what kind of picture quality are you getting and is it better than a traditional home theater projector from jvc or sony

I actually prefer Google TV rather than Roku. Roku is too restrictive to stream media from the internet.

    • Kris Bright

      January 7, 2023 at 7:02 pm

I find it a double edge sword. On one hand I prefer how fast and responsive Roku TV’s are, on the other hand Google TV like you said is much less restrictive than Roku.
I wish we could have a TV that has BOTH built-in, that would be a true killer TV.

Roku just for the inputs would be awesome and Google TV for the Smart functions would be top notch.

Every Google TV I’ve tried is just so much slower to turn on and use than a Roku TV.

A 98 inch Mini LED TV described as affordable, hmmmm. I think David Katzmaier must have a different definition of affordable to me because that TV is unlikely to be affordable to the average person. It’s surely going to be sold new for a 4 or maybe even 5 figure amount of money.

  22. Joe Baron

    January 8, 2023 at 1:06 am

98 inches 🤣I’m still more than happy with my 32 inch! If I want it bigger, I’ll sit closer.
