Yesterday I was just watching Linus’ video about new Alienware monitor using qd OLED lol. Getting a TV next year but as great as this is, could be out of reach budget wise 😂

@Pissed Birb it’s 2200 for the 55 and 3k for the 65 was already up on amazon.

    • Martin Chitembo

      March 17, 2022 at 9:24 pm

@tklking didn’t expect it to be this cheap.

    • tklking

      March 17, 2022 at 9:33 pm

@Martin Chitembo yesh me neither but be careful as we are hearing in rooms with brightness it’s further reduced perceived contrast and depth which is the magic of oled imo. This whole crZy brightness thing is kind of ruining the Mavic of oled imo the depth and contrast is key. Oled already has a hard time with a bright room now it may have an even harder time. Sure mabye slightly brighter but image quality takes a hit being more grayish.

    • Pissed Birb

      March 17, 2022 at 11:49 pm

@tklking what? Did the prices change? The video that I’ve seen showed that it was 2000 and something for the 65 inch.

    • tklking

      March 18, 2022 at 12:13 am

@Pissed Birb yeah it was actually 2200 for the 55 and 3000 for the 65. Was even shown on Amazon today. It will actually release on April 1st also.

A90j looking better in most scenes, seems deeper and has more contrast….the qd oled is really pushing the brightness and washing out the colours, I gotta have a look in store lol

    • hmm mmm

      March 17, 2022 at 4:23 pm

It seems like panel itself not black as a90j.

    • Simon czesak

      March 17, 2022 at 4:27 pm

@hmm mmm yes. The early reviews said they’re using a new coating. Almost grayish. Similar to the a80j coating…so you get giver brightness but you’re losing a lot. It’s 1st gen so I’m not surprised.. waiting for 3 rd gen

    • Kenny 1979

      March 17, 2022 at 8:28 pm

Makes me happy about purchasing my A90J. To my eyes the A90J is fantastic, and have never thought once that I would want it brighter.

Jusging picture quality from a YouTube video when the camera is not even calibrated for the brightness and is showing excessive glare is not the smartest of moves

    • Cyber Edge

      March 17, 2022 at 11:42 pm

They had the best looking CRT sets for the most part. My favorite TV of all time is the 34XBR960. But I think Pioneer Kuros were ther best from the plasma years.

WRGB OLED still hasn’t quite caught up to those displays overall. OLED has better contrast, blacks and sharpness, but worse colors, near black handling, and motion. I think QD-OLED will allow it to catch up in color reproduction, but I’m not sure about any improvements to near black handling. And motion will likely still be the same sample and hold motion as regular OLED.

i have a 75 q90t one of the brightest tvs u can possibly have at the moment and i also have a 65 c1

and let me tell u the c1 or oled in general is bright enough so save your money and get last years models

    • SHIVAM ARYA

      March 17, 2022 at 9:39 pm

This isn’t the budget option that you get to save money, it’s the high end model

  10. Daniel Garcia

    March 17, 2022 at 6:49 pm

I think the one of the left has better color. The new model looks like it gives off that weird brightness ring similar to led screens on the borders. Maybe Sony adjusted the brightness on the new model and turned it up too much for this video?

    • tklking

      March 17, 2022 at 9:54 pm

@SHIVAM ARYA dude I’ve had my a90j since launch no need to justify it. I was planning on getting the a95k so clearly not justifying it haha. I won’t though if there are specidx areas that make oled well oled. The magic of oled is contrast and depth imo and if that’s reduced even in lighting it’s a no go, oled already has issues with lighting. Also I feel they may be trying to oush it to hard so I’m hoping depth isn’t reduced. Again I’ll check one out for myself but of course it’d the first qd oled panel there will be issues let’s not be in denial about that. Usually it’s good to allow a few cycles to iron everything out. Also this was them viewing the tvs with the way sony set them up in the best conditions we’ll the best they felt. Do for it tobbe seen there thats a big deal Imo as this is a showcase ro show off how good it is meaning its going to be set up to really make the a95k look better as they do every year with new models. But still the issues can be seen clearly.

@tklking Looks like you got a little triggered by that last comment “haha”

    • tklking

      March 17, 2022 at 10:11 pm

@Lukas Murmann man do you all think that this tv will be perfect on its first year? That’s my only point lol it’s not going to be ans if the flaws that are there are to do with depth and perceived contrast then I’m just saying I will wait that’s all. Also I’m not this fake person of course calling me a justifier will trigger me. Most people would get triggered but some would lie and say they don’t lol.

@mohsin ashfaq what’s bs, dude you legit said they need to scrap the a95k and keep the a90j right? I was talking about how good the a90j is and how the a95k probably has a few inherent flaws.

This is lovely the QD OLED but for me personally as bad as I want this one I’m going LG G2 -77 Inch with the new EX panel and heat sink the bigger screen does it for me why I think should be runner as TV of the year

  12. Brainorg 0o

    March 17, 2022 at 7:25 pm

I would advise against the purchase because there is a big problem! (Alienware Monitor)
The culprit is the pixel arrangement: A pixel consists of three subpixels with the colors red, blue and green as usual, but they are arranged in a triangle instead of in a row. The red and blue subpixels are at the bottom, and only the green one is at the top center. The black gaps are quite large and every second subpixel row can consequently only display green, the other rows lack the green part.
In practice, this leads to the colored edges: On bright surfaces on a dark background, horizontal edges are green at the top and purple-red at the bottom; on dark surfaces on a bright background, the QD OLED panel of the AW3423DW behaves the other way around accordingly. Darker on dark surfaces and lighter on light surfaces produce less noticeable blue tones. The color fringes depend more on the contrasts in vertical and slanted edges – everything from bright red, green, violet and blue is present.

    Can you please investigate this?
Let’s hope the Tv with QD OLED panel don’t have this problem!!!

Notice he kept saying a little bit better , and what happen to the suppose it 1500 nits .

    • Mike I

      March 17, 2022 at 10:29 pm

It was 1500 nits in Vivid mode, just like the A90J showed that pic of 1300Nits the same way. Colors will be brighter, because it doesn’t have a filter to have to push light through for colors. Who knows with these reviews, they are just generic.

    • Michael Foster

      March 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm

@Mike I I saw you tube video of it supposedly being 1500 nits in none vivid mode a few a few months ago .

    • Mike I

@Michael Foster Until they come out and real people get to review them, not fake, nothing reviews like we have so far. We won’t know, but 100%, won’t hit much over 1000nits in calabrated mode .

    • RIR

      March 18, 2022 at 10:09 pm

@Dominik Gastreich What is the deficit of Sony tvs in gaming?

    • Just Saying

      March 18, 2022 at 10:25 pm

@RIR their input lag is noticeably higher than LG and Samsung, and their gaming features like Variable Refresh Rate are always lacking in comparison.

    • RIR

      March 18, 2022 at 11:01 pm

@Just Saying The A80j and a90j already have VRR and it works better than on the Lg C1. The imput lag in those TVs at least is low, I say this because I have tested them, in what LG still has an advantage is that the TV has more functions to use it as a monitor.

    • Eli Stap

      March 18, 2022 at 11:58 pm

@RIR you are clearly a Sony fan boy. Sony just added vrr and doesn’t have nvidia gysnc. Sony tvs are built for mainly movies and that’s it. Sony tvs also have less hdmi 2.1 ports. Nothing Sony does is innovative and all they do is buy panels oled panels from Lg or Samsung

    • RIR

      March 19, 2022 at 12:20 am

@Eli Stap You are clearly ignorant and have zero reading comprehension. I said the only thing LG has superior is to use the TV as a monitor (Gsync). And yes, Sony just added VRR, but they took the time to get it right and have it work better even than on the LG C1.
Sony buys the panels from LG, but uses their own Bravia XR technology which makes them have better picture quality and brightness, LG is only superior in being able to use the TV as a monitor. Even in image rescaling for consoles Sony is far superior.

    • Loki 76

      March 18, 2022 at 11:41 am

Which is actually extremely weird.. All other footage show totally opposite.. Even more so since we KNOW that W-OLED the brighter it gets the more washed out the colors.
So something feels up in this video. The camera or something..

When we finally get a lot of side by side reviews and going over in detail everything will come to light.

  36. Loki 76

    March 18, 2022 at 11:27 am

Samsung just announced a day or so that they are coming out with their version and seemingly faster than the A95K comes out..
I guess they saw all the hype surrounding it and didn’t want to lose out not being first.

Price seems a little bit cheaper as well, by $500 on the Samsung site and even $1,000 cheaper on Amazon for the 65″ compared to Sony A95K..

Unless the Samsung version is messed up someway in processing. I would actually go with that one. They have good gaming features, the price is better 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and new Processing that might rival XR processing..

I am extremely tempted to get it. S95B.

    • Michael Wyckoff

      March 18, 2022 at 12:14 pm

Just taking a poll, I purchased the 65 inch s95b for 2849.99 with Samsung employee access pricing ( my company gets a discount well union). If the Sony is 3999 which is speculation

Wondering if people think the Sony is worth the extra 1235 with taxes included… or I made the right choice with the Samsung saving 1235

What you guys think. Did I make the right or wrong choice… 1235 seems like a lot of money to save, in terms of these two TVs, I can always can cancel the order especially when we get some reviews of the Samsung

    • Mav_Godfather

      March 18, 2022 at 8:44 pm

I heard A lot of first reviews said that there are some color issues on the Samsung Oled and that Samsung is aware of this!
There must be a reason why there is no big presentation of the Samsung Oled TV like Sony did and that they dropped the price so extremely low!
And Samsung gave no Oled Tv to TV testers before release! Which is not common!
I would wait for the test before you buy it, are better when you see it yourself personally

    • Chris

      March 18, 2022 at 10:43 pm

      @Mav_Godfather thanks for the info,

I heard the same thing about the Alienware monitor! I heard anything above 600s is hard to get as reference. But hoping since there isn’t much in processing on a monitor that Samsungs processor has it figured out like Sony. Processing on a monitor is extremely limited since more processing means more input lag

The lack of review samples/ lack of publicity is starting to scare me!

  47. E.S Anoop

    March 18, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Sony’s sky high prices for most of its products is the reason why their sales are poor when compared to their competitors. So Sony must price their products just like their competitors or even slightly below in order to regain the market which they have significantly lost across all segments, be it TVs, phones, laptops etc 😎😎😎

    • Just Saying

      March 18, 2022 at 10:30 pm

I don’t think that applies to their TVs. They’re lacking in gaming features, but they’ve always had the best picture processing on their TVs. Why would they charge less than competitors when they’re making a better (non-gaming) TV?

Most thought these QD OLED would be in the range of $8k+, so very nice surprise with it being sub 3k and in-line with LG G series (at least the Samsung QD OLED models are). But 1st generation models, there’s bound to be issues. Maybe 3-4 years down the road to see how these models performs.
