Will the bigger one replace the Five?

    • Fin W

      March 7, 2023 at 9:13 am

No it’s a replacement for the play 3

    • Max Nankervis

      March 7, 2023 at 5:37 pm

Id assume we will see an Era 500 in the next product release cycle.

Using the 300s as rears would be completely ridiculous at the price they are. My ones which I picked up new for £120 each are starting to look a good deal .

    • Cost Granda

      March 7, 2023 at 12:00 pm

      They are!

    • Max Nankervis

      March 7, 2023 at 5:36 pm

Whilst i think its overkill, Plenty of people use Fives as rear speakers.

      Arc + 2 subs + 2 Fives

    • Nathan Olaoluwa

      March 7, 2023 at 5:47 pm

I already have the ones for rear but getting the era 300 will make the ones useless

I welcome the era 100, but I really love the design of the sonos 1, its a the perfect modern speaker design.

USB charging? You mean USB audio input

    • Max Nankervis

      March 7, 2023 at 5:39 pm

UsbC for audio input and/or Ethernet dongles

Didn’t know which one I wanted more
    So I preordered both

not sure how i like that SONOS written vertically 🙁

  12. Marcel Hahn

    March 7, 2023 at 12:21 pm

Can I connect the Era 100 to my tv via Bluetooth?

  13. Archie Garcia

    March 7, 2023 at 1:26 pm

I’d actually pay for the Era 300 over buying the new HomePod

  14. Slimpickins101

    March 7, 2023 at 1:27 pm

Terrible review of these speakers. A lot of misleading info.

    ugly design

  16. Butter Milch

    March 7, 2023 at 2:40 pm

USB Charger? So could i use the 100s as wireless surroundsound speakers for my beam 2 and sub mini?

  17. Nala1230

    March 7, 2023 at 2:42 pm

so basically the era 100 now looks more like the sonos move!

  18. Dan Kelley

    March 7, 2023 at 4:08 pm

$450.00 for 300 model, crazy! Talk about inflation & inflated pricing!

  19. xguy9

    March 7, 2023 at 7:02 pm

If the Era 100s had up firing speakers and were Atmos compatible, I would pre order them. But they don’t, so i just keep using my sonos ones as surrounds.

    • Cj Peraino

      March 8, 2023 at 10:34 pm

      Then preorder the 300s duh

    • xguy9

      March 9, 2023 at 5:01 pm

@Cj Peraino because even though I have it, I don’t want to pay $900 for Dolby Atmos rears, most people use sonos ones for surrounds. They should just make a sonos era 200, with up firing speakers, and sell them for $300 each.

    • Cj Peraino

      March 9, 2023 at 7:06 pm

Valid point they are a bit over kill for rears

  20. Wenyu Jin

    March 7, 2023 at 7:39 pm

$900+Tax for just rear Atmos speakers? Yeaaaaaah, no. I was waiting for this and was hoping it would be closer to $250 to $300 per speaker for the rear Atmos setup, but I’ll spend my money on another brand for Atmos. The 300s are overkill for rear speakers, and they should have added it to the 100.

man, I tire of CNET’s reporters. They sound tired, and dismissive, as this one did in this video. Gleans over some important details that other creators provide, and makes it seem like this is just an obligatory video they have to make to stay relevant.

If you use the Sonos 5 in a surround setup you cannot use them to connect a turntable is this still the case with these?

    • TRIPOD_G20

You can connect a turntable with the Era 300 via USB C port only

    • Vinylnuts

      March 9, 2023 at 2:53 am

@TRIPOD_G20 I know that but at the moment with the play 5 if you put them into a surround group the play 5 will not let you use it at a unit with a turntable plugged in.

It’s a shame, that Sonos still doesn’t support Google Cast. Now these new speakers don’t support Google Assistant too. The only good thing about these is that you don’t need an iPhone for Trueplay anymore.

    • WixosTrix

      March 8, 2023 at 9:56 am

They’re in an ongoing legal battle with Google because Google likes to use other companies IP without permission. It’s very unfortunate but this is all on Google.

  30. Luis C Perez

    March 8, 2023 at 8:42 pm

they are very expensive speakers to use as rear speakers

    • Hang Nguyen

      March 9, 2023 at 2:10 pm

They’re not called $onus for no reason. 😊

I personally would rather get JBL speakers or a soundbar setup like the 1000 or 1300X. Every setup is different though so it just all depends on what you’re trying to do with it.
