At $172, SK Hynix is currently trading about 91.4% below its June peak of $2,000 (3 million KRW). Although the recent ADR listing brings a 2.5% share dilution, the structural transformation of the memory industry will fundamentally re-rate the company’s valuation.

We are in the midst of an AI Revolution that urgently demands not just HBM, but the entire memory suite—including DDR, LPDDR, eSSDs, and NAND flash. According to Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, we are on track to achieve the era of super-intelligence, or AGI, by around 2030. Memory chipmakers have become indispensable assets; you simply cannot discuss AI without them.

SK Hynix’s massive profit windfall is poised to last for more than three years. Memory supply will fail to meet Big Tech’s insatiable appetite during this window. Furthermore, structural demand from Sovereign AI and edge computing will persist, keeping memory prices hovering at historical highs.

This past March, I personally visited the Y1 campus site in Yongin, where SK Hynix is developing its fab. A vast 245-acre landscape of farmland and mountains was being completely transformed. While the substation building was already completed, construction for SK Hynix’s main fabs and its supply-chain partner factories had not even begun. SK Hynix critically relies on these ecosystem partners for memory production.

Compounding this, procuring essential equipment on time is becoming a massive hurdle as Samsung Electronics expands in Pyeongtaek and Micron builds capacity across New York, Singapore, and Japan. On top of that, both Yongin and Pyeongtaek require massive grid upgrades to draw electricity from power plants hundreds of kilometers away. Building these transmission towers faces fierce resistance from local residents. Despite the South Korean government’s active support, executing this infrastructure rollout will be anything but easy.

Consequently, I estimate that the new production timelines for SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron will be delayed by at least six months to a year. This implies that even by 2028, these new fabs will not be fully operational. Even if partial production begins, it will fall short of massive Big Tech demand.

As you know, Big Tech Capex is projected to hit $750 billion next year and $1 trillion by 2027, supplemented by state-backed outlays of $50 billion from China and a massive €200 billion framework from Europe. With the rise of On-Device AI, humanoid robots (which Micron’s CEO noted require 10 times more memory than an autonomous vehicle), and self-driving cars, is there any chance memory demand cools down over the next decade?

While the stock price will inevitably experience volatility due to near-term Capex noise, the macro trajectory points firmly upward.

This interviewer stated that Micron has given an estimate of when they see more capacity coming into the supply chain and the bottleneck easing, that is simply false. The CEO of Micron has said they see no easing in sight through 2027 into 2028. He also said he could not give a time frame, month or year.

Strong demand ahead of SK Hynix’s Nasdaq debut shows investors still have appetite for AI infrastructure despite recent volatility.
But strong listings don’t guarantee strong long-term returns.
The key is whether earnings and cash flow can keep up with the capital flowing into the space.

I remain constructive on the AI ecosystem, but investors should stay selective rather than assume every theme-linked company will outperform.
I prefer holding high-quality businesses with durable fundamentals and pairing them with smarter strategies like (Midavest) to stay positioned and adaptable as market leadership shifts.
Different approach, but it’s been working much better for me. Probably why it’s gaining more attention lately.

I don’t think this is a sucessful IPO, because there was adout 15% underlying shares were hold. So when the market open this morning at 9:30 AM the asking price was $180.00, and no trade was involve until the price was drop to $168.93 at arround 11:00 AM than the first actual trade occurred. And the the whole day it was trading with the range of $170-$175 meaning not many investers buying in, reflected to as soon as money coming in there was money cashing out. And the market closed at $168.38 even lower than the first trade initiated. How can you call this is a sucessful launched, it’s a failure to me. We are going to see a massive sell off in the Korean market by Monday (our Sunday night) on it. Because their market was closed its Friday session at 2,180,000 South Korean won. When you convert that 2,180,000 won into U.S. dollars and divide it by 10 to match the ADR ratio, the underlying Korean shares are actually valued at roughly $145 to $146 each. The korean market will cash out at the inflated price from US at $170 (with after hour trades), pocket in $24-$25 profit.
