There’s been rumors floating around for the last couple years that suggest that Apple has been overhauling Siri in the background, they’ve also been buying up tech startups that specialize in AI. They seem to be very aware that Siri isn’t up to par with the others, and that they might be working to change that.

I still prefer the old Voice Assistant. It didn’t need internet connection and everytime I needed to call someone it finds it easily.
But Siri on the other hand, most of the times doesn’t

This is a very deceiving video. He doesn’t explain why Apple is behind. They don’t store your voice recordings like the competitors. It’s Apples privacy policy’s that put them behind.

Also HomeKit devices are lacking due to the requirement for end to end encryption

Do better C-Net and tell us the whole story.

Google and Amazon were able to accelerate their assistant’s intelligence by leveraging user analytics, that comes with a price of lesser privacy. Apple can get to that level of intelligence with siri, it’s just going to take longer. They may have lost ground in the voice game over past 5 years, but they haven’t compromised either. I do hope siri will get better with keeping context and just be a smarter assistant.

  34. Jason

    February 9, 2021 at 9:40 am

I never use Siri more than to set a timer or tel me the weather. Anything beyond that Siri is useless.

Plus no one really does voice commands to their phones. It’s too weird.

The Amazon Alexa took advantage of people buying things from Amazon. “Buy more cat food” and Alexa would already know which brand you bought before and you would likely have Amazon Prime and it would show up to your house 2 days later, in some areas the next day. It meant that many Amazon shoppers had Alexa which made it the premier platform for Home Automation. Google is second place because it the only option if you don’t want to be tied to Amazon Marketplace. Apple is only good at making iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watch. SIRI- ously it’s pretty amazing Apple is a 2 trillion dollar company.

SIRI – at least I am better than Cortana and Bixby. Almost everyone- SIRI, What’s Bixby? SIRI – now playing Justin Bieber . 😂

  37. Krmelj

    February 9, 2021 at 11:46 am

Siri sucks and always will suck because Apple does not power its own search engine from which the voice assistant pulls data from. Google, Amazon and Microsoft do however.

  39. Peppe Ddu

    February 9, 2021 at 1:25 pm

Siri doesn’t need to be better-than xyz.
Siri is a part of the Apple walled-garden ecosystem where users value the safety of something that is managed for them, software and hardware.
There is no “be careful don’t do that” in the Apple ecosystem and Siri just need to be good enough for the vast majority of users.

  48. Digital Markings

    February 9, 2021 at 10:15 pm

Forgive me for saying but actually this video does not provide a clear picture of many things that were happening and where all of it may lead. Siri team wasn’t even aware at first about the development of the HomePod. There were issues with the code, plus Apple did not want to do the same like Google and Amazon because of privacy. Also, there was no mention of acquisition of Voysis and other companies and possible plans for this year. Not to mention hiring of John Giannandrea, former Google boss for Artificial intelligence and search.

  49. Yannick Sluyts

I use google assistant and Siri regularly. I would say being in the apple eco system is still a cleaner experience and that makes up for the lack of Siri smarts. Although I am not a very advanced user so it might be that. Use it everyday though.

Hey Siri, “Send a WhatsApp message”

When ever I interact with a Google device, I feel buyers remorse and wish I had rather bought an Android device…

It’s because of Apple’s strict privacy concerns. They don’t collect data from SIRI searches like Google and Amazon.

apple with bla bla bionic but siri require online connectivity to just set an alarm

  71. Sophisticated

    February 10, 2021 at 9:51 pm

Google and Amazon have more to gain from just offering voice assistant services, they both collect large amount of data that can be turned in revenue, which being their services are more capable “thus customers find their respected services more satisfying”. Contrary to apple, which leads to complacency.

Google Assistant is good because it uses Google as a browser vs.. apple siri doesnt really have a browser .. google is used by everyone so its always improving
