You caught me, I was just going to ask if is it waterproof. If and when I have $40 thousand burning a hole in my pocket my dining room will be a breakfast scene from, Total Recall.

    8K with no 8K content is lolz. There’s barely any 4K content…

If it wasn’t for the fact I watch a lot of Youtube 4K street tours, often playing them as a background ambience, I would agree. Outside Youtube, there is little 4k content worth watching.

Why does no one talk about upscaling? They’re addressing any noise that might come with such…

There’s plenty of 4k content. I don’t stream when it comes to movies, music and video games. I buy and support the physical copies for movies, music and video games because I own what I paid for and it avoids any subscription fees and not having my own content being removed at any time. I still buy 4k movies on discs and the old movies are being released in 4k. I have the christopher reeves superman movie, original jurassic park movie, home alone 1 and 2 etc. I try to buy every movie that I want in 4k. However, certain movies and tv shows are just released on blu ray and dvd and never got a 4k version. I would settle for the blu ray version if there is no 4k version of the movie and tv show that I want. I even watch 4k on non 4k displays. I watch 4k on 1080p displays. I been used to 4k ever since 2014 since that’s when I started to get into 4k. I try to have every electronic device that I own have a 4k display including my tv, phone, laptop and external display. I’m still waiting for an android tablet with a 4k display, there are 4k wall papers on the google play store. My sony xperia 1 iv android phone has a 4k 120 hz oled display with 1,000 nits. When it comes to gaming on pc, I only game in 4k.

Just got a 70 inch 4k Samsung for the living room last week, and now I want another for the office… 😅

The upscaling gets a bit muddy during antenna football games, but streams are fine.

Upscaling will always be muddy, especially on bigger screens

What is the point in 8k?

  14. Brian Hartman

    October 21, 2023 at 10:38 am

It’s an 8K TV, so “really expensive” can be assumed. 🙂

Does it have that Rainbow effect wide angle coating? I bought a 65 inch years ago. That rainbow effect ruined the experience at night with ANY lights on, even off screen. My el cheapo $450 TU7000 I have mounted to the ceiling is semi-gloss and did not have this issue, unlike what at the time was a $2600 65 inch Q90T. I will never go back to a company that puts this coating on their screens. At this point, the semi-gloss TCL seems better (with 3 years of additional tech years passed).

Sweet except I would rather have a 97” OLED!! $40,000 that is absurd especially because it is not micro LED!

    • Kenneth M

      October 21, 2023 at 4:19 pm

40000 is absurd, no matter what TV or technology makes the TV. it is a box that displays moving pictures. The only people who could afford this are the rich, anyone else is just making a poor investment.

I think all these “who is this guy” variety of comments are a testament to the fact that CNET is slipping hard with its tv coverage. David has been with them for like a decade but he’s barely putting out videos and getting beat by independent reviewers and Rtings. Improve your TV coverage, cnet!!! We need all the educated voices in tv reviews we can get.

That’s literally so stupid when LG oled 97 inch cost 25k. Nobody gonna pay 40k for Mini LED.

  29. D

    October 22, 2023 at 4:19 pm

It’s not that expensive honestly. But we’re all waiting for it to come out in QD-OLED. Samsung is using this tactic to push old led technology. Nobody’s falling for it. Nobody’s gonna buy this. Thier sales will drop. Then one day in the 3-5 years they’ll finally break and make this in QD-OLED at the same price and all of us watching, well let’s just say those tv will be impossible to keep in stock.
