At its 2019 Samsung Developer Conference, the phone-maker showed One UI 2 software running on a Galaxy Fold flip phone concept. Sorry, Motorola.

One UI 2 brings better reachability, moving icons, dark mode for the lock and home screen, high-contrast visuals, brightness awareness and smaller notification windows to Samsung Galaxy phones, wearables, tablets and folding phones.

In its keynote, Samsung teased a new Galaxy Fold phone design that folds in half horizontally like a flip phone. The timing of the tease is curious since Motorola said that it will launch a folding screen version of the Moto Razr by the end of the year.

We walk through One UI 2 on a Galaxy Note 10 and take a look at the new Galaxy Fold design concept.

If I was there, I’d probably bend one of the note 10. And when they apprehend me, I’d just act dumb and say I thought this was the foldable phone during the presentation. 🤪

Then it wouldn’t be unique to other players like Oxygen OS, MIUI OS, etc. It is all about the identity of the company.

I am not liking Samsung right now. So Samsung really didn’t update their multitasking feature? Bc it sucks now comparing to the samsung experience UI! In fact, multitasking was the best thing about Samsung over the competition. Now with one UI multitasking feelings like I’m using an iPhone & that is not a good thing. I might as well switch back to iphone where there is the best ego system fr day one to date, imessage, find my iphone, facetime, a more stable & secure OS! Just saying!

My main question for the vertically folding phone would be if I can unfold it with one hand or will I have to hold it with one hand and unfold it with the other.

I remember Samsung did a similar device after the original Razr.

I really wish Samsung had its own independent successful operating system. Not crazy about Android and google privacy access.

Smaller notifications are on EMUI since 8.0, same as dark mode. Samsung is lagging behind as always. Never a galaxy for me I stay with Huawei or Sony, that Leica camera and Sony 4K HDR OLED is everything Samsung is lagging behind with.

      November 3, 2019 at 8:30 pm

That’ll all change with Samsung S11. There just will be no comparison then.

      November 4, 2019 at 12:16 am

@sybaik Samsung always has the same specs, the screen is always the same only gets bigger but no 4K HDR, no 90HZ or 120HZ it’s like they’re waiting on Apple, when Apple does the move they will. Sony is showing everyone how it’s done, same as Huawei implemented dark mode as early as they could, Leica camera system with all the new features night mode included, Samsung just lacked behind same with Apple. But now they’re trying since the Huawei ban, they take advantage of the situation copying everything from the dark mode, camera features night mode included, reverse wireless charging but they both don’t have a powerful kirin 990 with 5G build in. Samsung was a year behind Apple and Huawei with the 7nm chipset what a joke. And yeah wait for the S11, you always have to wait with apple and Samsung.
