Please say more positive things and be different from bias YouTubers. SPend more time on areas where the product shines. Appreciate what companies like samsung is doing realizing that some technology are still in their infant start but will get better over time. Get to know the device very well before mk a verdic. Remember, samsung offers so much more than others, yet they don’t get the credit nor the support they deserve.

Can someone comment about how long Samsung supports its phones? I had an S2 and it was essentially obsolete a month after getting it as they wouldn’t keep the OS updated and android apps wouldn’t support the previous generation of OS. So just wondering if things have gotten better. I have an old iOS phone and it gets updates and apps for years.

    • @alexdaraujo

      April 29, 2024 at 5:58 pm

I also had an s2 but I don’t remember the device being obsolete a month after, about the s24 lineup it’ll get 7 years of OS and security updates, after that time you can continue to use the device or do whatever you like with it.

    • @az50056

      April 29, 2024 at 6:01 pm

They support 7 years of major OS updates,
which is the highest even apple does not support more than 5-6 years of OS updates

0:49. I know why Samsung waited so long to bring this gorilla armor screen, but what I don’t know is why they didn’t bring it on the S24 Ultra sibling

  9. @jaker3151

    April 29, 2024 at 3:44 pm

The usefulness of Samsung MST probably depends on which country you’re in. I haven’t swiped a payment card with a magnetic strip in over 15 years. The last time I swiped a card was with a loyalty/store card but now these have also moved to digital QR/barcodes or NFC based cards.

Although Samsung MST is relatively newer tech, the magstripe/swipe card readers that it communicates with at payment terminals/checkouts is very old tech (introduced in 1970s). Hence it has been replaced with newer tech like chip & pin and NFC in many countries. This year in Europe some payment card companies will begin removing the magnetic strip from their cards.

MST might have had a longer life if Samsung made the technology non-proprietary and allowed other phone manufacturers to use it.

    • @LexySavvides

      April 29, 2024 at 4:27 pm

Yes very true. In the US when Samsung removed it, was a big deal. Three years later NFC technology has finally become almost ubiquitous, but credit cards with magnetic strip are still very common and not all terminals will do chip readers either. I’m still grumpy about it 😜

  15. @ROACHRAGE2

    April 29, 2024 at 6:12 pm

I upgraded from an S22 and the biggest improvement for me was the cameras. I attend a couple of live events every year and with the S22 the performers were just a light blob against a dark background. This phone does a much better job! And yes, the screen to me is amazing! Not to mention the speed of everything. I am very pleased. And I actually got a better deal from Samsung on this phone than I would have gotten on an S23 ultra because they gave me an extra $200 for my old S22 AND gave me a free upgrade to 512 gigs.

You can count on CNET to make the most negative positive video about a Samusng device. She couldn’t even bring herself to call the S24’s screen the best screen on any of the current flagship devices. I guess that’s just a bridge too far for CNET 🙅🏿‍♂️

my mom has the s23 ultra and I have the s24. the screens are different, the camera output is much better than the older one. but one thing I like is when I go outside and I live in a tropical country and the screen of the s24u is soo bright I can see it! it’s amazing when you live in a very sunny place and you’re outside. I hope they come out with camera update soon for the s24u.

Went from iPhone 12 to S24U and, to be honest, I love this phone so far. The screen, battery, and cameras are the factors that made me decide to switch.

  37. @Theratron

    April 30, 2024 at 4:38 am

I strongly disagree about ditching the 3x optical zoomlens for a 5x. The main camera is always a wide angle lens these days, and it just warps proportions. When taking pictures of an object I generally use the 3x, because that is more true to what the real life object really looks like. So instead, I hope that Samsung will give us a better (say 50 Megapixel) 3x optical zoomlens instead of messing with the zoom levels.
I get the remark about the camera not being an interesting talking point anymore, but I noticed a huge jump in picture quality this year compared to the S23 Ultra last year. Much less oversharpening, much more true to life and yet more impressive colors, I don’t know why it’s so much better but it really is.

As for AI features, “Circle to search” is absolutely brilliant and has helped me out on a number of occasions. Amazed how well it works. What I use the most though, is the summarising feature for websites. Saves me loads of time on long articles!

Oh, and about the screen: everything you say about it is true. The anti-reflecting properties are fantastic, the fact that it isn’t curved anymore is great, but also: all the bezels are the same, there’s no more “chin”. It’s really much better to look at and much more easthetically pleasing, haha.

  43. @whoever_81

    April 30, 2024 at 10:45 am

  44. @stephenthompson8041

    April 30, 2024 at 3:28 pm

Best review is right on. The biggest deal about this Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra is entirely the flat screen and the anti-reflective screen coating! What a game changer! Unfortunately, there aren’t any screen protectors that match that same type of anti-glare. Even the Samsung branded one isn’t as good as the coating that is built into the screen.

  46. @DorianLust

    April 30, 2024 at 5:27 pm

Samsung should have put a 50Mpix 3x zoom to cover the 5x range, and then also put a 50Mpix 10x to also cover the 20x range. While they’re at it, put a 50Mpix on the 0.6x, and put them all horizontal across the top of the phone like a pixel so the phone sits evenly and doesn’t rock on a table. That’s what they need for the S25!
