They need as much power as possible, the last 4k roku’s still overload when watching too much content for too long.

It is worth it should we buy it

I forget how convenient the light-up remote control buttons can be until I got a laptop that doesn’t have a light-up keyboard

lol so NO updates just a remote

I think the updates are the New remote WiFi 6 and it’s a lil faster.

Personally I’m getting one for the remote and the usb port To watch high quality movies from my hard drive. Woooo

Can you turn it off now? I don’t get why you can’t turn them off.

Question, I have a TCL TV with Roku built in. It is super slow on some apps. If I get a standalone Roku how is that going to work when I turn on the TV? Will I have to use the built in Roku interface to access the external Roku through my receiver? (That’s how I do it with my BR player, select AV receiver and then go from there).

Once you set it will go straight to the Roku ultra. You really won’t need the tv remote. The ultra will control your tcl tv.
Since the ultra doesn’t have hdmi in. If your BR player is plugged directly in ur tv hdmi port and it supports hdmi cec. It should be able to switch hdmi source automatically when you turn it on. Similar to a game console without you having to use the tcl Roku remote and doing it yourself

If I buy the remote separately to use with my existing Roku how much is just a remote

  10. @nickjenkins4016

    September 24, 2024 at 11:12 am

Wow, a Roku that doesn’t support other apps like Kodi or Stremio. It’s totally a great device that does not support Android. 😂

    • @NextNate03

      September 24, 2024 at 11:32 am

It does support android and apple.
You can screen cast with any app the supports it and there is and Roku App also. 😂

    • @nickjenkins4016

      September 24, 2024 at 12:05 pm

@NextNate03  well that is true but why would I wanna screencast with any app on my phone when i can just click on the app on the Roku device itself? See if people made more apps or if I could download 3rd party apps on the Roku device like I can on an Android TV then it would be worth using Roku.

This is a non-starter without Thread & Matter support, here in 2024.

No 1 gig ethernet…extra speed will likely go unnoticed. Wifi upgrade is good.

Very minor updates from the 2020 Ultra😢

  14. @jimbates6227

    September 24, 2024 at 5:42 pm

Reviewers always fail to mention the Ultra is the only Roku device that has an Ethernet jack. All my (5) TV locations are wired and all five use an Ultra. Why use wi-fi when I don’t want to and don’t have to? That’s why I bought Ultras. Very few streamers on the market support a wired connection. I’ve used Ultras for many years and have no complaints.

BUT… The earphone feature is removed from the new remote!

  16. @SteveSabbai

    September 24, 2024 at 8:59 pm

I wish Roku would get rid of the 4 quick jump buttons at the bottom. You do not really need them and they just get in the way when I am using the remote.
