Architect Riyad Joucka believes your home should be a mirror of who you are. Using 3D printing and ancient architectural wisdom, he’s designing efficient, personal homes that respond to context, climate and culture without sacrificing character. He makes the case that we should start designing for people, not the market. (Recorded at TED@BCG on October 23, 2025)

We need to rebuild with housing in mind. The homeless might care what their houses look like, but having a safe and comfortable home comes first. If we need endless rows of modular houses, so be it.

Developers cloned the same boring houses for corporate profit and called it ‘efficiency’. Glad someone is finally using technology to bring soul back to architecture.

Dwellings are a simple matter. Step by step they assemble to accommodate. Place is a separate matter. Regarding the dwelling one only needs to consider it alone. Regarding place one usually considers it from away. Away is no different than one’s place, in consideration. Else one has gone too far or not far enough, to consider their dwelling.
