How about neither because of Zuckers

I bought a refurbished Quest 1 straight from the Oculus website for $200 in 2020 lol. Incredible that it dropped so much in price so fast, considering it launched for like $400.

I enjoy the headset, but I do not feel any pressing need to buy either a Quest 2 or Quest Pro. The Quest 1 suits my use case for this time, since it has no trouble linking to my PC with both Virtual Desktop and the built-in Air Link.

Maybe in another year or two I would consider buying a new headset, maybe not. But as long as my Quest 1 keeps on going, I’m fine with it.

I bought Quest 2 during pandemic ($299) so I could play DCS WORLD using my 3090.

It was fun, but I haven’t touched it in months.

I would never spend this much on a VR headset.

I have no idea what to expect from Apple’s XR setup, but I do at least have to wait to see what that looks/feels like prior to pulling the trigger on a Quest of any kind.

3 months ago I bought the quest 2. I think Ive used it once for like 15 minutes. I was curious as to what everyone was talking about. It’s cool but that’s it. It’s like 3D TV was, yeah it was cool, but not worth it. So no, I’m not going to buy another VR headset. I’m not the person that has to have VR. It’s not for me.

15 minutes I think is not nearly enough time to get an understanding of that the product you bought is. Try different apps, different games and you’ll see it’s full capabilities.

I use mine everyday. And depends on what apps you have. I used liteboxer today for some boxing exercise, then I played some tennis, then I played some Catan. I then downloaded some financial apps and logged into them for some financial reading. Then I listened to Spotify inside the headset. Lol then… will watch a movie later.

immersed multi monitor resolution seems to be considerably worse than single display using airlink or virtual desktop. i already have dual 4k 144hz 43 monitors so I don’t see myself bothering to use quest pro for multi-screen for work. quest pro for me is only for playing games and play with google earth and netflix time to time. 🙁

Meta needs to apply a desktop VR OS version for the headsets with its own application to tether to your device wether it’s Windows or MacOS

Why should I as a gamer buy a Quest pro? What would I do with it that requires such a headset? Instead I just keep my Quest2 for Quest specific games and I just bought a Pico4 for my PCVR gaming. That is….until the Quest3 comes on the market with significant improvements…

@Iakob Kv If Meta continues to add features and updates, I think there’s an upside. Allowing individuals to skillfully develop spaces for meets and entertainment has legs. If not from Meta, someone else will do it. I enjoy the idea of building community based content for interactions. The only thing that bugs me a bit about HW is the asset management. It really does take skill to flesh your ideas, but once you get a workflow going.. you can build some excellent content. I expect new updates throughout this year & next when the Quest 3 releases. I’m a first time VR user as of Thursday

The Quest Pro starts giving me headaches after using it for 10 min due to the excessive pressure on my forehead. The Quest 2 with the KIWI headstrap on the other hand is much more comfortable to me because the weight gets balanced with the strap over your head and the whole Quest 2 weight touching my whole face. So Quest Pro basically puts all the weight on your forehead and back head… I’m surprised that for some people it’s more comfortable and for others like me is just painfully uncomfortable

Great video, it’s nice to see more serious tech sites really appreciating the hardware in the Quest Pro, I feel a lot of the Youtube influencers really didn’t understand or value all the things that the Quest Pro can, and why it justifiably costs so much more. It could equally be that they have large audiences of mostly casual VR gamers and were aiming their videos directly at them.

My own experiences with the Quest Pro have been overwhelmingly positive however. It’s my seventh VR headset and I wanted something to replace my current Quest 2, Reverb G2 setup. It’s a significant upgrade over both of them, and runs PCVR games incredibly well, with visuals easily surpassing both my Reverb G2 and my Vive Pro 2, despite a lack of display port and comparatively low resolution.

The lenses are absolutely phenomenal giving the headset true edge to edge clarity making it far more immersive and comfortable to use for long periods.

I get a lot of people hate Meta, and a lot of people think £1500 is an expensive price for a VR headset, but for me, this is hands down the best hybrid standalone/PCVR headset on the market and it’s only going to get better with software updates and new titles.

Using my headset today and it lasts only an hour so to upgrade to this for work and not be able to move with a USB C cable plugged into the headset after the first 45 minutes would be a big hassle you have to leave the experience

I have an Oculus Go and a Quest. I just tried a Quest pro at a friend’s house, playing Pistol Whip for 10 min. Fitting is def nice for me with a good front/back balance. FOV and display are rather disappointing since I could not really tell much difference from my Quest1. Futur content will hopefully show real capabilities, let’s wait and see.

We are going to laugh at 1:21 one day, the same as we laugh at the big, bulky “portable” computers of the 80’s and 90’s.

  37. Iguacu

    November 6, 2022 at 3:51 pm

Quest Pro is a quintessential example of a device for early adopters. Unquestionably expensive, limited external development, limited use cases, and obvious deficiencies (battery life) that only enthusiasts should buy at this point in the product life cycle until Meta is able to manufacture and sell them for cheaper (and hopefully with a longer battery life).

What I cannot accept is the idea of a regular office employee wearing a VR headset for multiple hours a day in order to have virtual monitors instead of simply buying three actual monitors that will surely be more comfortable to use. It’s reminiscent of when the Segway was revealed and it was hard to imagine people riding those dorky-looking giant scooters in droves down the sidewalk despite media and the company’s PR team insisting upon it being the inevitable future. Turned out everyone’s common-sense gut reaction was the correct one.

my only problem with virtual reality headsets is…..there is no reasonable keyboard for them…the last keyboard I saw was no longer available and priced at $500 for VR headset compatibility. When they have a keyboard that works for the headsets, then the VR hardware will take off

these specs dont add up_the price point is just a corporate hike up🤑_they buy in bulk for their staff & write ’em off_we aren’t included in this demographic🎯
same way say if you go to repair a Range or Porsche_the parts themselves arent worth $xxxx_but they hike up the price to gauge the insurance companies
so the Quest Pro isnt for us at all_& im especially salty about them lying about the OLED & switching to LCD to cut costs even further_but we dont have a choice
Valve shouldve made a wireless Index to compete w/ the Quest Pro_they botched it on a lame portable deck w/ a small screen_so pony up & buy the Quest Pro i guiess
