ViacomCBS merged all its content in movies and TV into one single streaming service for your viewing pleasure, but is it worth the subscription? We take a look at the new app, the originals launching with it, and what separates it from its (deep) competition.

after years of streaming only, i recently got cable hooked back up. internet by itself is more pricey than when added with cable. so, by time you have internet alone and all these streaming services, you’re no better off

FWIW: Under the News section is a list of 24-hour local news from several US markets. If there’s a newsworthy event or incident in another city, I’ll watch the local affiliate where they tend to get into more details.

Sony won’t sell or rent movies on Play Station for much longer and I think Google Play/iTunes will soon drop that as well. I think once most people realize they really don’t need unlimited viewing on all these streaming services all the À la carte services will be gone and you will be stuck paying as much monthly as the big cable packages to enjoy all the content you desire.

I’ve been looking for a movie channel recently…. Debating between showtime, stars, etc… But when I saw that paramount plus stated that they offered over 2500 movies…I thought that was a huge amount and maybe this was the channel that I was looking for…. I got the service/app and there are a total of 650 movies and documentaries combined under the movies category???? Where’s the rest?? Hoping they’ll be adding more but don’t advertise if the content isn’t there. Not sure if I’ll be keeping this or not since most of the movies can be found on other apps.

I used to have Netflix and Hulu but I found that I wasn’t finding much to interest me. The major networks are in their death throes, Disney will never get my money for what they did to Star Warts in general and Gina Carano specifically. I tend to purchase the movies and TV shows that I want to see, and since, as of late, they tend to be few and far between I find that Amazon Prime, Vudu and YouTube are enough at the moment. the only new streaming service that looks at all interesting to me is RiffTrax’s new service for 5.99 a month.

This content natively cannot be unbiased. The parent company that owns cnet also owns TV Guide, who is paid by Netflix, Amazon, HBOMax, and Disney (for hulu) to advertise their content and platforms. Therefore, them reviewing a competitive platform can only be assumed to dissuade viewers from spending money anywhere but those 4 services. At least until CBS ponies up ad revenue. And I’ll point out Paramount Pictures just recently took a huge financial hit completely remaking Sonic’s likeness for the live action movie (after customer feedback) that debuted at the beginning of the pandemic. So while the brand new service is absolutely bare bones, I’m sure over time, provided with feedback from users, it will improve.

HBO Max is by far my favourite streaming service. Yeah, it’s expensive. But it has pretty much everything that I want! More specifically it has cartoon network, looney tunes and adult swim. I love cartoons and already have Disney+. So I’d probably get this just for the Nickelodeon!

  61. Thundershock

I’m confused. Star Trek Picard is an Amazon Original …it still there. Star Trek Discovery is gone though. Twilight Zone, The Good Fight and Tell Me A Story are also available on Amazon Prime. I’m guessing Originals in this app refer to shows and movies produced by Paramount but not exclusive to Paramount Plus.

I had CBS access and there was virtually no difference. Just a few new shows added exclusively. I was really hoping they would add lots of paramount movie. But nothing changed in the volume of movies available.

ViacomCBS better start paying attention to the comments on YouTube and the user feedback in both Google’s Play store and Apples app store. Folks are not happy with this subpar release. They better act soon or this product will become a dud.

  70. Tonya Totten

    March 8, 2021 at 12:10 am

Hulu runs from 7 to $12 Netflix runs around 14 or $15 Apple runs around $18 HBO Max ones around $18 per month by the time you pay for all of these streaming services it’s going to add up to nearly $100 plus your Internet TV or cable bundle and phone runs all around 175 to 200. You going to have a $300 bill by the time it’s all over with which defeats the purpose of cord-cutting because of budget reasons,
