Or you can take a picture a day as well. Not too different from what he’s doing lol

Yeah lol. But it does give more dimensions to the memory. The sound and the movement

@Rainman yeah you’re right. That full second overtime might make those flashbacks a bit stronger. But I wouldn’t do a Ted talk about it like I revolutionized the game I guess lol. Or maybe he should explain it like you did

Yea but I think this actually is a kind of motivational therapy technique because you will actually realize how much of your life is wasting away doing nothing everyday.
I tried the picture a day for a month thing and it was weird, mostly a month of my time wasted working for no extra savings. Made me realize how stupid it is to focus ur life on work, life is too short! This also helps u appreciate the little things such as if you only do 1 “fun” thing in an entire month such as something simple as a bike ride or bowling etc.

Yep actually a sad realisation. In one way we are very rich and have tech that 100 years ago was unimaginable but in another we still work for almost nothing😢

I did this for 10 years (2013-2022). I don’t regret it, but I don’t think it’s a good format. After a decade, watching my one hour video compilation just felt like a spazzy jumble of audio and video. You can’t just randomly film one second of video each day and expect any kind of cohesive narrative, which is what I hoped I would achieve—to create a movie of my life, one hour, one decade at a time. I barely recognize most of the clips from the early years now, so it’s like watching someone else’s memories.
On the other hand, selfie projects like Ahree Lee’s “Me” or Noah Kalina’s “Everyday” work because there is a compositional structure that allows us to see a person age in real time. They tell a story. So I think a one second everyday video project format could work, but it needs more structure to tie it together. Less noise, more narrative.
What I do recommend is keeping a daily journal. Being able to refer back to my thoughts and recollections and the occasional picture or video clip is both practically useful and personally meaningful. For most people, I think simpler is better in the long run.

Thanks for sharing, what you mention makes total sense. Keeping a journal is also a great idea, I’ll try to start writing one.

Thanks, that’s a good thing to know before getting into a project like that!
And do you think it could work with some text next to it or a voice saying what’s happening?

@Luna Neila A voiceover narrative could definitely help. But I think the most important thing would be visual structure. What are you trying to show? What’s something you do regularly, either everyday or weekly, that can add a rhythm to the video? One of the things that’s so compelling about the examples I cited was how they take something very mundane and boring (an expressionless selfie) and elevate it to the profound through overwhelming repetition.
If you think your life is boring, try taking a video from the same perspective in your cubicle every day and editing the video to show subtle changes. For example, as an experiment, I filmed my feet, walking, for a few weeks, to build awareness/mindfulness of the ground I’m walking on. Try different ideas, one month at a time, and see what happens…

One second but it’s obvious that he record much more than one second and then he choose one second for the compilation…

Sounds like you are doing the same thing as recording at a concert, but you are having a concert all your life. Same fucking thing bro, but even worse!
