If a company plants trees to offset its pollution, is that climate progress — or is it greenwashing? Critics of carbon markets say it’s the latter. I wouldn’t necessarily say “personal use” so much as “affordable use case”. It can work with language models better than a standard x86 system, with a small compact package that’s energy efficient. Certain workloads are going to run like a wonder on this thing, and at the same time sets a baseline for certain applications to be able to run on. Is it gonna replace grandmas old Gateway? No lol.

January 9, 2025 at 11:34 am
It wouldn’t. No consumer on the planet has any use for AI. AI use cases are for scraping and processing huge amounts of data, and I do mean *HUGE* amounts of data. Its only really usefulness would be in medical research, but right now its main use case is Google, Facebook, Microsoft and other immense companies to spy on users on the internet in order to profile them, to better sell ads, services and steer public opinion.
@TheGamersRace
January 9, 2025 at 11:39 am
@Tigerex966 A language model definately wouldn’t be for the average user. I wouldn’t say any $3000+ dollar computer is for the average user. These are for power users, or developers who can take advantage of the hardware. For the average user a Mac Mini is going to do wonders for them, but funny enough the upgraded M4 Pro, 64gb version would also do relatively well for language models. That starts encroaching on the price of this Nvidia pc.
