Tesla isn’t designed to harm large swaths of society via biased algorithms. Your argument of “Hypocrisy” using Tesla as a comparison is invalid.

This just seems like Elon musk is jealous of open AI, all of his data from Twitter isn’t creating the generative AI bot that he thought it was going to be able to make, he needs better data, and he’s salty that Open AI has already used better data.

Did it occur to anyone that the “open” in open AI is for open source? Did it occur to anyone that the corporation that gets controll and pattents AI will be able to controll the stock market, social media, and politics better than the average human? At least if it’s available to anyone at least it’s a level playing field. Otherwise it Emperor Microsoft. Did any of you think about that point?

The other issue is people/companies/nations will also develop their AI’s in secret. In a few years or who know when, the best one’s will probably be private and no one will know they exist and potentially be far superior to anything on the market. You’d need to have a counter-balance and the only thing I can think of is to have expert AI training as a necessary public skill taught in schools and continued to be taught throughout one’s life as a sort of civic duty. This is so that enough raw talent exists that it makes it possible to build competing AIs that can safeguard against secret ones made with trillions of dollars in backing.

They should just return 10x the money he originally invested.

It also doesn’t really matter since Microsoft already has all of OpenAI’s models and research – as well as that from other companies including their own.

A lot of the top-end research that makes ChatGPT what it is may well have come from Microsoft itself… They did some pretty impressive experiments that pushed things forward.

I think that this it self should be a statement to ‘AI safety’, even now the argument changes to ‘who is right …’, instead of ‘how does any of this align with the goals and views initially set when deciding ai governance ‘. its probably just another ploy at user input being used for training data.
