Microsoft Surface Book 3 review: the 2-in-1 with a freaky hinge

The Surface Book 3 isn’t dramatically different from the Surface Book 2. But it’s still a unique 2-in-1, and an exceptional laptop. Check out the review articles for more! Microsoft Surface Book 3 15″ review:

Yours is the best review I’ve watched so far on the Microsoft Surface Book. Unbiased and constructive.

Get Dell’s XPS engineers and get rid of those 2010 bezels.

They can’t get rid of them completely as it needs to be usable as a tablet

Why is it ok for Apple products to have the same design for years but not Microsoft? ????‍♂️

    • Christopher Lasquite

      June 19, 2020 at 4:40 pm

      Cause they’re apple ????

    • crazyforiegner2

      June 20, 2020 at 6:30 am

Because the bezels are looking dated.

Daniel, you have such a bad attitude in this video. the MacBooks have kept the same design for many years yet it seems like you’ll never bash them for that. This is by far the worst video Cnet has ever made.

    • Daniel Van Boom

      June 20, 2020 at 12:10 am

Hey Caio. We actually bash Apple a lot for that! Also, I mention in my written review (going live next week) that it does suck when Apple releases multiple samey-looking laptops for years on end, but also that MacBooks come out each year. This is only the third Surface Book to retain the same look, true, but it’s also the fifth year it’s done so, since they’re released every two years (or 2.5, in this case).
Anyway, I’m with ya – I’m also bummed when Apple releases a MacBook that looks the same as the 2016 restart. Thanks for watching!

I have been thinking about switching to Linux and seeing what that’s actually like. I used Windows for quite a few years and looking to try something different.

Not sure why everyone is hung up on the design? The MacBook Pro has basically looked the same for 10 years.

  24. Leandro Escobar

MacBook been the same for decades.

Great non biased review! This only solidifies why I’ll be rocking my iPad Pro until another released of products in the near future.

Someday a reviewer will actually take the time to find out who buys Surface devices and construct their review around their needs, instead always referencing video editors, students, and/or the “average” consumer (whoever that is) needs and how Surface devices fall short…

I just can’t get it out of my mind that literally no laptop manufacturers are trying the third type of 2 in 1s which is like the HP Spectre Folio. I want the next gen surface laptop to do that.
