I liked the 200X MOTU where Duncan & fisto are brothers. And Keldor definitely should be randors brother like in most iterations, sad to hear he isn’t here. Hopefully he is still Keldor & if not in this one then in the sequel we get flashbacks of him becoming Skeletor thanks to Hordak

i like this format with the trivia popups. it shows that Wired actually has done research themselves because sometimes the actors and directors may not remember the lore and give confusing answers. the popups can provide clarity.

Except for #8…. they out right misled on that one. Netflix covered the orgins of He-man in the docuseries “The Toys that made us” and the spoke with the designers of He Man…. basically Mattel wanted to the rights to Conan (after the movie came out), they were not successful, so they first tried a clone, Torvak (who is the big barbarian holding the Power Sword, in the comic shop), and when that was not received well… they apparently did a bunch of coke and came up with He-Man.

Travis Knight doesn’t knows the lore as good as I thought! He-man defeating Superman is canon and not just in his introduction in DC comics but multiple times in later crossovers. Nicholas knows the lore better.

Superman is always seen lifting heavy objects on earth effortlessly whereas even in the original cartoon He-man makes grunting sounds when he lifts very large objects just like we would. So as far as strength goes that goes to Superman. As to who would defeat him in a fight that all depends. Maybe Superman could defeat him in his own universe but not in He-man’s universe – think multiverse.

I like the whole “Skeletor used to be a guy named Keldor and is He-Man’s uncle,” but I get them not going with that for this version. It felt like they wanted something a little more playful and closer to the original cartoon, and it didn’t explore Skeletor’s origins either.

3:35 He-Man would totally beat Superman because He-Man is powered by magic. His sword is magical and that alone could mortally wound Superman.
In their original 1982 meeting, Skeletor mind-controls Superman into attacking He-Man. During the clash, Superman explicitly notes how incredibly strong He-Man is, and when He-Man strikes him with the Sword of Power, Superman genuinely fears for his life, thinking, “I could die!” The fight only ends because He-Man manages to break Skeletor’s spell rather than trying to kill Superman.

Funny thing that Travis Knight is wrong to say that Skeletor is not related to Adam when even the 80s mini comics were going to show that indeed Skeletor WAS Adam’s Uncle and Brother to Randor.
The Last Mini Comics of the 80s toyline published the “The Search for Keldor” on which King Randor asks the Sorceress and Adam to help him find his lost brother Keldor, a scholar of magic that was lost in another dimension for years. Skeletor was spying on them and he was terrified saying he must stop them because if they were to find out the Secret of Keldor, it would undo him (Skeletor).
Mattel was to publish the sequel mini comics to reveal that Keldor was indeed Skeletor but the toyline was cancelled. Eventually NOT the Netflix REVELATIONS or REVOLUTIONS revealed this backstory. It was in fact the 2002 (200X) Reboot that used this backstory and presented it on the very first episode. Randor and Keldor’s sibling relationship was not said offhand, but it too was to be revealed though it was hinted throughout the episodes of the series. And then eventually the Netflix shows used it too along with the other CGI separate series.
So yeah, Travis Knight is wrong to say that they are not related and only in other media they are. They don’t seem related in the Filmation series and in Knight’s movie but in Core lore that indeed Adam and Skeletor are blood related.
Now in the 200X regarding Teela, she was also going to be revealed that Duncan was her actual blood father and the show producers threw a Red Herring to make it as Malcolm/Fisto being indeed Duncan’s brother was also the possible real dad or Teela, but it was Duncan and the Sorceress had given them a potion to forget, yet even the show initially heavily and clearly alluded that Duncan was the real father. All this was Revealed with the backstory by Mattel along NECA in their Staction figures and busts of the 200X line.

I think he man and Superman are close in power being Superman stronger but not by much. But both are capable of moving planets, creating tornadoes, ect ect but Superman fly, heat vision , cold breath wich give him the edge. Nick reminds me, both on screen and off, of everything good we experienced with Henry as Superman. I hope this movie does better and a sequel, if greenlit, can at least match this one and not go south. Really loved this movie and its very clear the cast and crew enjoyed as well. 1:26 I don’t remember the original cartoon too well, but this did come up. Teela brings up the topic of a date out of nowhere. He-Man assumes she means this as making a date with him (or maybe he thinks that she’s into Prince Adam).
All present are baffled who didn’t know she was talking about a pre-arranged date with Ram-Man.

As He-Man and Masters of the Universe fan just saw the movie last night. I thought it was a great movie. However it could of been a lot better without the cheesy jokes. I think its probably why it has not hit the box office. Jared Leto played a great character as Skeletor. He took almost the entire film. Nicholas Galitizine did a great job as He-Man. I hope this movie budget goes up!

HE-MAN has beaten superman more often then not on average HE-MAN is stronger because plot wise he doesn’t need to have a limit placed on him while superman strongest versions are mostly alternate universes or he for some reason looses the power up while HE-MAN powe remains relatively consistent and his strongest form is literally just him at the end of his story fully wielding all of the power of Castle Grayskull without even needing the sword as a conduit

3:03 – Eternia is the source of all life and magic energy in the cosmos. The Masters of the Universe are those who control and protect the Power. The word is a bit of a misnomer. ‘Guardians’ would be more appropriate.
3:38 – He-Man has ‘more power’ than Superman, and the fact that his power is magical gives him an even greater edge, but Supes has an advantage even He-Man can’t overcome: plot armor.

Honestly, as many have found this movie was a good surprise. The 1980’s Masters of the Universe was good but poorly advertised. This one has not been given the advertising it deserves and along with celebrity cameos the production was well spent.

Dudes, the skeletor in the original 80s cartoon was freaking hilarous, even though he was evil. I don’t like the evil, but everytime skeletor gave that stupid laugh, I was always cracking up. That’s back when I was a kid. He’s even more hilarous today now that I’m much older and look at clips of those reruns.

Been a fan since the 80s, saw the movie on release day with my hubby (it was his birthday). We loved it!!! Even our kids (26 and 23) loved it and they didn’t know much about it. Definitely worth the watch! 😊
Loved this interview. They had so much fun and they really know all the details about the storylines that have been created over the years and the origins. No wonder the movie was so amazing, they really had an incredible grasp!

Superman is weak against magic, which is He-man’s core strength. Superman routinely loses in the comics, etc to weaker characters who possess magic. I would still bet on Superman though because he is also one of the most intelligent heroes created. They had to make Lex one of the most intelligent men in the universe to justify his outsmarting Superman on a monthly basis. Whereas He-man is less crafty…

Just watched it yesterday with my sister. We both loved it so much. It was such an enjoyable ride!!! So much better than most of the crap we be getting these days. It broke my heart this movie didn’t seem to do well because people judge the book by its cover.

Eu assisti ao filme e gostei muito! Principalmente na batalha dele com o esqueleto foi ilário! Gostei muito do castelo ficou igualzinho! Amei ver o pacato quando filhote muito fofinho! Travis Knight is 100% wrong on that, the Power of Grayskull is infinite, and He-Man is always exactly as strong as he needs to be to overcome whatever foe is in front of him. Superman is strong, but He-Man is stronger.
