Still using my XS and still won’t consider upgrading unless there is major changes towards the new iPhone phone

    • @dboudiab

      August 31, 2024 at 11:18 am

So you’re saying that you don’t see the value in upgrading this September to the 16 from the XS even though it is more than five generations later? I mean you do you but come on man.

    • @GWillWin

      August 31, 2024 at 11:55 am

Agreed, as long as the phone accept the latest software update I believe you should stick with it.

My work iPhone 7 won’t go a day even with no use. While my personal Mate 10 Pro still lasts 3 days on a full charge after over 7 years of use. The only thing that is going to stop that beast is the 3G switch off in the UK. I would need to be paid to have an iPhone.

My 14pro max is on 99% battery life and I’ve had it since launch. No MagSafe charging! I don’t let my battery go less than 30% and only charge it to 83-85%.

    • @chandlerbing7570

      September 2, 2024 at 1:32 am

Just had my 14 pro max replaced because it was defective. Was getting really hot during use, battery would imminently go from 40% to 12% battery in a second and 5G never worked. After 1 year the battery health was 89% so cut my losses and got apple to replace it under apple care

  15. @GWillWin

    August 31, 2024 at 11:59 am

As long as the phone accepts the latest software and security updates you really dont need to upgrade. My phone upgrade pattern has been every 4th gen. Went from 4-8-12 and after losing my 12 had to get the 14. I will continue the every 4th gen so my next will be 18. My 14 pro is at 84% battery but I have apple care so a new battery will be 0 but even if I had to pay the $69 it is cheap compared to getting a new $1000 plus phone

      August 31, 2024 at 6:27 pm

Overall, I agree with you. I upgraded to a new iPhone every year, but I don’t think I’ll do it this year. iPhone is so boring these days.. 😢

    • @GWillWin

      August 31, 2024 at 6:42 pm

@@minjunchoi98921lol all phones are boring because they are phones. It’s the software that makes them different. I think the leaps in software and capabilities make the iPhone a very exciting tool. In fact I think the smart phone has actually changed the way we do everything. IMO, the “iPhone is expensive” idea is not exactly true. Depending on your mobile phone carrier there are many promotions that either get you a new phone for free via a trade or at a reduced price that makes the new iPhone so affordable.
Then there are many mobile carriers who offer streaming promotions that once again save the consumer money. These carriers are all about retaining customers and will offer discounts in order to not lose a customer to a competitor.

optimized battery charging doesn’t work, use 80% limit, I got my phone in November and it is at 99% now, other users report having 95% or less at this point using optimized battery charging, might as well not use it at all as your battery longevity will likely be the same.

lol price of an iPhone is not $1500, it’s $1200 for 256gb 15 Pro Max. Most trade ins are around $500-$700 so people aren’t paying full price anyways.
