Unboxing Apple’s New $549 AirPods Max 2 in Purple
At first glance, the AirPods Max 2 don’t seem like much of an upgrade from their predecessor. But when you factor in the improved noise canceling, sound quality, voice-calling performance and new features, they do seem to be about 20% better than the previous model. That may not seem like a huge difference, but it’s…

Don’t use the heater you have, instead get yourself a diesel Electric heating blanket.😂
Thermal cycling can be challenging for a heat pump system.
Yes overall he’s correct, a lower delta T with the exterior temperature will reduce heat loss therefore reducing heating costs

68 degrees lol. I live in a Mediterranean climate and am experimenting with keeping my furnace off this winter. All it takes is the right clothing and a large dehumidifier.

68 to cold even 70 sometimes unless I’m doing something. 71 or 72 is better. I’m getting too old to be freezing. I grew up in a warmer climate and now living in a colder climate. My body still likes the warm weather.

“A smart thermostat is you friend”
I had a smart thermostat, until the manufacturer decided to exit that part of the business and shut down the online services. Now the aforementioned smart thermostat is just a programmable thermostat, that still does its basic job.
Also, bold of y’all to assume all of us can reach the high ceiling HVAC registers, without a ladder.

My experience with a smart thermostat was terrible. It would constantly make adjustments based on what it thought my schedule was and most of the time it made no sense. I replaced it with a simple wifi-enabled programmable thermostat and it’s so much better.

Was it a Nest “Learning” thermostat?
HVAC technicians despise those.
Ecobee is the smarter choice for a smart thermostat.
I had a JCI Glas smart thermostat.

@XzTS-Roostro yep, it was a Nest. My new one is a Honeywell. Huge improvement.

@SpookyApparition
The contractor who installed our original HVAC system put in a standard Carrier thermostat. My mom got a battery-powered Honeywell 1+5+1 programmable thermostat before we moved in. By 2019, I had replaced it with the JCI Glas smart thermostat. Plus I don’t have to worry about changing batteries, because one time during one of my sisters wedding in 2016, the thermostat batteries died in the middle of the tea ceremony, during the summer. We didn’t find out until everyone left and I checked. So when my other sister was getting married in 2018, I replaced the batteries the night before, out of precaution.
Now our original HVAC system has been replaced last year, after 20 years of service, and we had it installed by the same contractor. They also put in a programmable Honeywell thermostat (made by Resideo Technologies, who owns Honeywell’s thermostat business), but I’m sure the JCI Glas is compatible with the new system. Now I just gotta wait a few more years for the thermostat warranty to expire so I can either reinstall the JCI Glas or get an Ecobeee.

DO NOT CLOSE VENTS!!! This is bad and dangerous advice. Overheating Furnace: Restricted airflow can cause the furnace’s heat exchanger to overheat, potentially damaging the unit or creating carbon monoxide (CO) risks
Firemen see this too often where people close vents and the heater crashes out cause smoke. Even they say not to close vents.
@DugB0915
December 7, 2025 at 10:17 am
OMG Cnet, Did you just tell everybody to close vents in the house WITHOUT MENTIONING THAT YOU MUST ***NOT CLOSE TOO MANY*** BECAUSE IT STRESSES YOUR SYSTEM!!! AC experts say you should not close any more than 30% of your vents at **ANY TIME**.

Sorry, but this video can more and more often cause higher(!) energy costs because it doesn’t mention what kind of houses are ment. If you have like a heating pump, every start after a break means it will be much less efficient for a while. So if you have enough insulation to keep the heat consumption of your house low, it’s better for the heating pump and for the efficiency to run it without break. And a heating-pump is more efficient when the temperatur difference between the “input temperatur” and the temperatur you want to have in the building is smaller. But if the heat-pump doesn’t run over night, a higher heat demand comes together with a lower temperature in the neighborhood as it was at sunset because there were like no sunrays in the night to make it warmer -> much less efficient.
