Author David Larbi recites a poem about the journey toward joy, reminding us of all the ways it can be found: having a conversation with a stranger, tasting the perfect bite of food or enjoying a good stretch. Joy is all around us — you just need to know where to look. (Recorded at TEDNext 2025 on November 10, 2025)

I forgot being happy is woke.
But also these ARE based in science. Take a little bit of time to look into it!! It’s been socially studied, it’s really interesting!

@NataleiFoster lol you do know to us physicists and to the rest of real science “social science” is a joke? Open to all kinds of biases and agendas it’s a travesty the word “science” has been stolen and misused to make it sound more intellectual than it actually is 😡

@TardigradeTough Have you heard there’s a BIG side of science for “social studies” and psychology?
Woke as a term is discriminatory to many people and minorities.
This place is made for Kindness, we shouldn’t leave people out of their possibilities for that.

@woobthepinkbunny8661 maybe do better research and read all the comments in this section before just repeating what some other person who thinks social studies is a science wrote? And Im not interested in who gets offended to able to think you have to risk being offensive if you dont like something I wrote move on and go and read something you do like snowflake

I’m waiting to see Depressed people complain about another “choose to be happy” advice.
This guy is privileged to be good at writing. He can make a good life out of it. Plenty of people do not have that kind of luxury.

Joy is a manifestation of the status of sentient beings. This is why animal beings who don’t talk nor smile use different ways to express joy. In this perspective, a child in a cradle as sentient being knows intrinsically what joy means. But, in every certainty that child has not the material nor psychological means to provide to himself the things that will trigger joy. The same goes to the elderly who can no more move nor talk.
How a child who is hungry can be joyful?
How the elderly who is thirsty but who can’t talk nor move can be joyful?

The piece that rarely gets addressed at work: high-performers often can’t receive joy — contentment reads as complacency in demanding environments. The coaches we work with find this is where the real shift happens. Not productivity. Just genuine permission to notice what’s actually going well.
