    Nice video!
I’m really curious how or if their new operating system is going to work here in the US?
I’ve been using a Mate 20x for over a year and a half now, and it is still checking quite a few more boxes than most flagships.

The last time I was this early, if you folded your phone in half you’d break it.

With very brittle screens no thanks I’ll keep my waterproof phone that doesn’t scratch and cost less than a a third of the price.

The lady is full of bs… If this type of phone is still beta, how did samsung sell the volume that they did!? Jerk!

    • andyH_England

      June 5, 2021 at 6:10 am

Depends on what you think is a good volume? The original Fold only sold 400,000 corrected after the CEO claimed 1m sales to try and make it sound good. They have not announced how many Fold 2’s that have been sold but claimed they would only make 800,000. I suspect that is aiming high seeing how quickly the price has fallen (oversupply). That is okay for a new product but def, not mind-blowing and I would agree probably beta so uptake has been less than Samsung and their fans hoped for? The Huawei Mate X2 is sold out everywhere but has limited supply so will sell a lot less than Samsung. The whole market for foldable tech was <0.5% market share so it is insignificant and not even worthy of being called niche yet, and those YT "experts influencers" claiming it is the next big thing need some inspiration as the 15 min is now up!

    June 4, 2021 at 1:17 pm

If you can’t beat your competition, make a product that is an almost replica of one.

    • andyH_England

      June 5, 2021 at 6:23 am

Funny enough Huawei has been investing in foldable tech for as long as Samsung and had in and out foldable ready over two years ago. They went with the fold-out originally but due to the failure rate in production that had to revert to their fold-in design. It is clear they nailed that far better, with less of a crease, no gap when closed and a better hinge as well as a far superior front display including a better aspect ratio. All in all, Huawei have made the Fold 2 look like 2-3 cycles behind and Samsung needs to up their game? Looking at the previews of the Fold 3, it is not going to happen this year though s-pen support and flagship cameras are welcome additions.

    • JAY MAN

      June 6, 2021 at 1:41 am

@andyH_England it’s funny you say that when the CEO itself said it would never make this type of Fold and laugh at Samsung for doing even know some tech was stolen from Samsung headquarters (outside source, and then the first Huawei foldable came out which was more $ but Huawei themselves came back and said it actually was a good design

    • Roman Shocker

      June 6, 2021 at 10:25 pm

Inagine the replica being better lol, Samsung fold looks like the down grade version…imagine a replica ps5 being better than the original lol

    June 4, 2021 at 2:31 pm

Lack of cameras on the inside is stupid.

    • andyH_England

      June 5, 2021 at 6:02 am

Why? It has two displays so using the main cameras for vlogs and selfies will give you far better quality and variation? That way we do not have that notch/pinhole that everyone whines about in reviews!

    • Dan -

      June 5, 2021 at 6:04 am

@andyH_England imagine wanting to use a video call on the big screen and you cant.. they can easily fit something into the bezel.

    • andyH_England

      June 5, 2021 at 6:16 am

@Dan – 99.5% of smartphone users are okay using the outside display on a candy bar phone so I am not sure it is something people are begging for? The Mate X2 is selling out of stock in most places so the indications are that this is maybe not a negative, an undisturbed display worth one less camera, it already has six!

Foldable phones, to me, feel like pre-iPhone mobile phones. Clunky and inefficient. Need Apple to make one to show how it should be done.

    • eric8783

      June 4, 2021 at 3:03 pm

Agree but apple is best at refining already available cutting edge technology, they’re not pro movers

Great job Serena, I truly enjoy your reviews on these new devices. Regardless of how people feel about the design of these devices I agree with you, this is great engineering and you got to give credit to the device manufacturers for either trying or adopting ideas. It certainly looks great too bad is out of most average consumer’s budget or not available in the North America market.

No camera hole on display is genius. I want a cellphone without a hole in the display to enjoy videos without being distracted by it. Not everyone cares to take selfies.

    • Dan -

      June 5, 2021 at 6:23 am

Just put a camera in the bezel , being unable to video call from the large display is a missed feature

    • Ceadda

      June 5, 2021 at 12:08 pm

@Dan – Yeah, I like that idea if they can just shrink the camera small enough to fit in the upper bezel. Many phones don’t have bezels with infinity displays so they can deal with the camera hole. But no point in making everyone annoyed by it.

    • Vincent Pham

      June 5, 2021 at 4:21 pm

Some people use it for zoom or would need it for zoom

    • J R

      June 5, 2021 at 4:36 pm

@Vincent Pham I’m thinking a small Bluetooth camera would be all that is required. I haven’t tested these though. Would be curious to see…

    • Ceadda

      June 5, 2021 at 9:57 pm

@Vincent Pham I’m not saying all phones shouldn’t have front cameras, but one model without it would likely sell well for people who don’t want an ugly notch or hole in the display and don’t use the front camera.

    • JAY MAN

      June 6, 2021 at 1:37 am

@Ceadda not enough profit margin to take it out unless it’s underdisplay

      Probably just a hair

    • Urdhav Koch

      June 4, 2021 at 8:27 pm

@Archie yeah probably but considering its in the middle or crease section I doubt it

  21. Tim Twining

That was cool. It made perfect sense and was well worth the watch!!!

  22. dreamcastdc

No thank you still has the fold crease between the screen.

  23. Anthony Sun

    June 4, 2021 at 10:57 pm

Really don’t see the point of foldable with all the sacrifices but it’s really good to see the tech in there.
