Are Americans really taught to bullshit their way into workplaces? For the majority of workplaces, your “unique stories” matter very little, and more importantly, the vast majority of us have little of what could be called “uniqueness”, as far as skills and life experiences go.

It’s about telling your story in context of survival (winning at life) not a victim loser that gives up on themselves and talks down their own success thus being their own worse enemy.
So in short you leveraging that survival knowledge to kick goals in what you want to achieve. I hope that helps your understanding. Your short attention span and dyslexia can be over come bruh.

1. Apply everywhere you want regardless of requirements.
2. Prove you can do the job or learn to do it in reasonable time, write the cover letter. Employers you want to work with will prioritise that first. Portfolio can help.
3. Remember it only has to work once.
4. Once you’re employed, do what you’re employed for, don’t buy into workplace conspiracies. You’re there to get the best experience you can get and become a worthy employee so you’re not back in the same position in a month time.
On topic: I have a feeling if I was telling my story left and right the job market would tell me to go hogwarts instead. Awkward doesn’t really work in teams. Things have their time and place and it will help to tailor your uniqueness accordingly.

Or you apply for a job you once had, lost, realized you actually liked a specific part of that job. And when I applied I highlighted that specific part of the job, which now has become a super important part of the job. The job evolved to meet me and my passion. Weird.

If you want to frame this style of personal storytelling (and learn the defining, persuasive components of a personal story), try digging into the selling of the top rock and pop stars in Howard Bloom’s most recent book Einstein, Michael Jackson & Me. Howard was the public relations consultant “to the stars,” and he formulated this approach in a methodical way over years of practice.

The job application process itself is rigged af. It’s a black hole online. You have maybe a thousand applicants for any one job and the so called “algorithm” filters out resumes that don’t have those “key words” automatically. The system itself ignores anyone with an interesting story or background.
Also, the qualifications and demands are too stringent. 90% of the jobs that are categorized as “entry level” are asking for 1-2 years of experience and advanced skills in certain software tools. It’s utterly ridiculous. Companies assume everyone has done a top tier internship at a fortune 500 company. Not to mention that there are so many applicants with a bachelor’s degree now that employers no longer even see that as a differentiator. It’s like they allow no room for development. Either you have the experience and skills already or you’re useless to them.

This is good advice. Still hate hearing “Tell your story”. Pfft, I will tell you my story when I am ready. And not just for some job…
In other words, this may be why college works for some and not for others. Also, why half of America hates the other half.

I have a presentation on a slideshow I can forward to you if you provide an email. The depth of my devotion to being the messenger…to help mothers, fathers, brothers….actually help…cannot be put in words.
In my time in the “twighlight zone” I would study behavioral patterns, coping mechanisms, evasive behavior, self esteem, the lack of it, the constant attack on it, all the subliminal stuff all addicts go thru but don’t have the comprehension to put it into words one can understand, or they just don’t care. Of course, distinguishing between emotion and logic is a rare attribute nowadays. This is just one of the many many many concepts that need to be understood in order to be able to build a real foundation with an open door to a new relationship with the addict themselves , and their families. No resistance, no isolation….and no need to manipulate their willingness. I strongly believe I can lay this out in a way everyone can understand. Not just understand but begin implementing right away.

My story.
Grew up in a poor Puerto Rico family where only my mom passed high school.
Moved to New Jersey when I was 2.
When I was 7 parents move to Florida leave me with my sweet grandma 💘.
Send me and my siblings to live with them.
Then they get divorced.
At this point 14 have to pick who to stay with.
Pick Dad.
Then Pick Mom.
Then Dad leaves for Puerto Rico for grandma with Cancer.
After all of that haven’t done anything with my life.
Now I’m 17.
